A ClevelandBikes’ bike station for Northeast Ohio?

Submitted by Kevin Cronin on Mon, 01/16/2006 - 11:15.

People on REALNEO’s website are used to thinking about new ideas and the way we can help create the city and region we want to live in. Rather than passive acceptance, readers at REALNEO are active shapers of the community.  Our area is increasingly considering the importance of health activities, lifestyle and the comfort and attractiveness of the region.  As a region, we are focusing on regional assets, including our parks and lake.  With that in mind, I want to discuss ClevelandBikes, a two year-old nonprofit, and our project to develop an asset to meet these goals…a bike station, a new piece of the transportation infrastructure.

Submitted by Ed Morrison on Sun, 01/08/2006 - 21:01.

Louis Branscomb has long been a strong voice on the state of the innovation economy in the US. In this commentary, he outlines the decline of the U. S. relative position in innovation. He suggests how the state and local governments can combine with the private sector to help provide a national response to our innovation challenge.

This fellow is an entrepreneur.  He's experiencing a bit of the "trickle down" economy near EcoVillage at Lorain and W65th.  We are seeing more of this type of citizen than we have in the past.  Why is he carrying a wheel on his head?  Who is he (not individually - but as a rung in our economic ladder)?

Here are some economic development preditions for 2006:

The County will continue to develop its new strategy outlined by the Blue Ribbon Task Force. The Task Force will become CuyahogaNext Advisors. Look for new initiatives -- innovation zones -- around Baldwin Wallace and the Euclid Avenue Corridor. Blue Dog rises to raise money for Red Cross

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 12/22/2005 - 15:25.

Anyone who has spent much time in Louisiana knows the Blue Dog of artist George Rodrigue. A friend of mine sent me a link to a website for a signed poster by Rodrigue raising money for the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. It's a classic image and worthy cause so I thought I'd pass it along. You can learn more and order the poster here.
