Mayor Jackson at Celebrate Cleveland!

Mayor Jackson is greeted with congrats and the dreams of his constituents at the Celebrate Cleveland! inauguration party

Mayor Jackson invited 5000 Greater Clevelanders to celebrate his inauguration at a "come as you are" party at the CSU Wolstein Center on January 7.  It was well attended by a crowd as diverse as the city itself.  Some dressed in suits and evening gowns, others came in jeans and tennis shoes.  The cavernous Wolstein Center was given a more intimate feel by dimmed lights and white canvas draped overhead.  There was food and music from different nationalities, including a spicy salsa band that kept the dance floor hopping.

Mayor Jackson arrived unannounced but didn't go unnoticed.  He stood for about four hours in one spot greeting his guests.  The party goers waited in a long line to congratulate, shake hands, hug and take pictures with the new mayor.  By him taking time to converse with his guests, gave the crowd a feel for his down-to-earth style and attitude.  He also took the time to hear their dreams and concerns and assured them that he will do his best to address them.  Many other public officials and community leaders came to greet the mayor and congratulate him, as well as mingle with the public.

All-in-all it was a great kick off to make "Cleveland great again" and the party was enjoyed by all.
