At first, I was going to write some nice stuff about Michael DeAloia and his new book:

Lost Cleveland

...but I am a bit miffed right now.

I am mad, not at Michael DeAloia, who doesn't seem to let the local corruption dampen his enthusiasm for our fair city, but at the puppetmasters at NPI, the foundations and Greater Cleveland Partnership.

I can say I was happy to see the great turnout at the book release party on 10/14/2010 at Cleveland Public Art.  Many, many copies are available of this design primer, which should be handed out to our schools, and on buses, and dropped from airplanes :)

This makes my day--thank you to the amazing educators at Denison School!!

How many days of deliquency determines the transfer of a tax delinquency to Plymouth Park in Cuyahoga County????

Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson spoke at Playhouse Square this past Tuesday. 

Here's a smart guy.  Did anyone listen?  His message: America is failing.  Our bridges are falling, our roads our crumbling, our levees are breaking.

This is America? 

William and Sandra Brightwell live in Cleveland and grow bushels of produce each year.  They are not getting rich doing it, despite the current salvation myth of urban agriculture.  And, these folks know how to grow vegetables. 

My recollection of the horror felt on September 11, 2001 includes one of the last conversations I had with my grandmother before she died.  My grandmother and I cried on September 11, 2001.  My grandmother relived the Allied bombing of Dresden and the horrors she witnessed in Budapest, Hungary during World War II.
