Historic Bank Building in Old Brooklyn being stripped for Marble

Submitted by lmcshane on Mon, 07/14/2014 - 09:32.

I walked by the historic bank building at corner of Pearl and Broadview today - looking in the window - it appears that the building is being systematically stripped of the marble wall trim.  The interior is very reminescent of the United Bank Building - which was renovated to house Crop restaurant.   The building is listed with CBRE commercial real estate.  http://www.cbre.com/EN/findproperty/Pages/default.aspx

Hush little baby; don't say a word....

We cannot let it be overheard by the neighbors....

We gotta sustain this superficial image of being above the raw realities that lurk as skeletons in our closet.

We gotta keep that psuedo image appearing squeaky clean....

We gotta speak softly so the world doesn't know the raw truth....

We gotta keep all those dirty truths locked away in our heads....

We gotta live in the closet...

We gotta feel ashamed of it....

No buildings higher than two stories, streets are cobblestones. McDonald's had to conform, and their restaurant here (more expensive than US I guess, close to $5 for a Big Mac, although it sells as a combo with fries and soft drink.

Simple sign outside.

Inside, the standard counter.

Inside, beauty.
