Make Friday the 13th Very Unlucky for Slacker, Failing NOACA Governing Board MembersSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 08/10/2010 - 14:13.
08/13/2010 - 10:00 08/13/2010 - 12:00 Etc/GMT-5 Beautifully timed, just days after the EPA Hearing about MCCO's permit to burn coal in excessively polluted Northeast Ohio for five more years, and in the middle of a Smog-Wave and air pollution crisis - as citizens awaken to the fact their air pollution monitoring for Northeast Ohio has been broken by NOACA (Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency - which is responsible for managing air quality here... for as long as there has been a NOACA) - the NOACA Governing Board is meeting on their unluckiest Friday the 13th ever. The Cuyahoga Democratic Party has asked for the resignation of two of their most powerful and ineffective leaders - Jimmy DiMora is on the NOACA Governing Board and has not personally attended one meeting this year - neither has Tim Hagan. Neither has Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson - his planning Director Bob Brown only attended three... same with Commissioner Jones. RTA Boss Dixon - none. Port representative Raskind - none. ODOT representative - 2 out of 6 meetings. NOBODY FROM THE EPA. Citizens must now recognize the breadth of their influence and failure, causing failure of the region and state though such vehicles as the governing board of NOACA. Location

You should have known better. Did you know the air pollution would make you unhealthy last night? Were you warned it would be unhealthy today?

Back of napkin sketch of new I-90 Bridge... blending of visioning with Ed Hauser, Joe Stanley and Ken Prendergast... FIRST - REPLACE ALL ODOT LEADERSHIP, CONSULTANTS, PLANNERS, ENGINEERS, ARCHITECTS AND POLITICIANS WHO EVER TOUCHED THIS DISASTER. IMPRISON AS MANY AS POSSIBLE FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. TERMINATE ALL RTA LEADERSHIP Keep the damn bridge we already have and decommission it for highway use - the carbon footprint return on saving this embodied carbon and not wasting unmeasurable more pollution buiilding an unnecessary new bridge alone is worth $ billions. Pay the union mafia $ millions to stop crying about jobs and go do something to improve the world

TUESDAY MORNING IN CLEVELAND AND ALL AROUND NORTHEAST OHIO - THE AIR IS UNSAFE TO BREATHESubmitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 08/03/2010 - 09:45.
Right now - TUESDAY MORNING IN CLEVELAND AND ALL AROUND NORTHEAST OHIO - the air appears unsafe to breathe. According to data hidden throughout air quality monitoring reporting in the region, our air has been AT BEST UNSAFE FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS since MIDNIGHT. In other words... it is still UNSAFE from yesterday. Of course, the Ohio EPA forecast for today was "Moderate".

Dear Ronn: realNEO statistics indicate our content is well trafficked by Cleveland Foundation staffSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Sat, 07/31/2010 - 08:11.
Dear Ronn: realNEO statistics indicate our content is well trafficked by Cleveland Foundation staff, so I won't preface my comments with introductions... we know each other well. The Roulet family is in a position whereby my parents have accumulated $ millions in wealth through investment of their incomes working for or affiliated with University Circle institutions - Case, University Hospitals and the Cleveland Institute of Art - and they intend to donate much of their wealth to those and similar causes - except those institutions burn coal, and do so in a harmful way that has been highly deceptive and has resulted in direct physical and financial harm to members of the family: myself, wife and children... indirectly and directly harming our friends and their family. As such, my family has less money than it should, my parents' money is tainted by their employers having burned coal throughout their careers... and much of their money is intended for institutions that to this day cause harm by burning coal when there are ready alternatives... and those institutions show no real intent nor good will to stop.

Did you know the Air Quality Was Unhealthy for Everyone if not Severe July 27 & 28, 2010?Submitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 07/30/2010 - 10:11.
Dear Senator Brown, Did you know the Air Quality Was Unhealthy for Everyone if not Severe July 27 & 28, 2010? That is what appears buried in the incomplete, deceptive EPA data largely hidden by the Federal government funded City of Cleveland, local EPA, NOACA and Ohio EPA air pollution control services - such data is sometimes possible to locate with great effort by the public, as illustrated in the screenshot above. There is reported a highest 1-hour average PM 2.5 level of 123 - UNHEALTHY FOR ALL - meaning the level spiked much higher during the hour. That was at NOON, in downtown CLEVELAND, July 27, 2010.

The first rule of the Art Of Surviving Cleveland is PROTECT YOUR DNA!Submitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 07/15/2010 - 13:00.
The first rule of the Art Of Surviving Cleveland is PROTECT YOUR DNA! As reported on realNEO: "what we have learned after sampling and genetically profiling many gull families is that colonies close to integrated steel mills transmit DNA mutations to their offspring more frequently than those at rural sites. In addition, the closer the colony to steel mills, the higher the mutation rate". Further, "Our genetic analyses of environmentally exposed mice revealed that offspring from the steel site inherited nearly double the frequency of DNA mutations compared to their rural counterparts. Clearly, air pollution near integrated steel mills can induce genetic damage. At this time we cannot identify the class of chemical pollutant responsible, but suggest that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, by-products of coal combustion, are a likely candidate." In other words, and further: if you want to live a long, healthy, normal life and perhaps have offspring... DON'T live, work, eat, visit or play near a steel mill or any coal-burning facility... DON'T DO THIS:

I am not a professional sports fan or expert in professional sports regulation but it is obvious the professional sports teams are all owned by a small number of astoundingly rich and powerful global cut-throats - in many or most cases monopolists in extremely socially repugnant fields like banking, ticketmaster, cable, loans, waste management, and cruising - and they each always get their way, one way or the other. They control a select set of GLOBAL monopoly franchise, licensing and ticketing system that restrict all free trade in their industry to the point of making both players and fans slaves to the owners collective, greedy, collusive antitrustful whims.

LeBron has good reasons for not wanting to play with the Cavs, and a right to privacy about thatSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Sat, 07/10/2010 - 12:10.
It is my understanding, confirmed by many people on the inside of the real Cleveland community, that LeBron has good reasons for not wanting to play with the Cavs in the future, and there are good reasons the teamwork was off during the playoffs, and LeBron has a right to privacy about that. However, it is equally clear to me that the reasons for LeBron's departure are known throughout the Cavaliers organization, Northeast Ohio, the basketball world and by the media as well, and there seems to be a blanket agreement that LeBron's personal business is LeBron's business. I am certain Dan Gilbert and everyone at the PD know all this very well. Which makes me wonder why Gilbert and the Cavs are not respecting this apparent global social contract, which largely benefits the Cavs, as my impression is that Dan Gilbert is to blame. Gilbert has the responsibility to set the moral fiber and focus of the Cavs team and enterprise and while he has been obsessed with gaining personal wealth, glory, gratification and GAMBLING at any risk, he failed to make his team and enterprises better than himself - better than the empire he built and operates. Dan Gilbert has made the Cavs immoral.

An Open Letter From Someone Who Matters About Something That Matters To Real Citizens of NEOSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 07/09/2010 - 09:12.
As highlighted in my posting on realNEO July 8, 2010 - "Texas regulators are failing to properly monitor, control and enforce federal emission standards! Like in Ohio?!" - I've concluded that "Ohio regulators are failing to properly monitor, control and enforce federal emission standards, and that I believe that political, business and environmental leadership are hiding the violations of polluters by causing ineffective and so publicly harmful and dangerous pollution control practices here, which are made possible by government failure here to really monitor, control and enforce federal emission standards." Further, I make clear, "the Sierra Club and the Federal EPA are taking legal action AGAINST the Texas STATE REGULATORS and the world's largest corporations because they are not in fact protecting the environment, as required by the Federal government," I go on to report "I have been compiling evidence of corrupt and/or incompetent pollution control in Ohio for many years, and have now formally requested the help of the Sierra Club and their affiliates around the world to force change upon Ohio regulators who are failing to properly monitor, control and enforce federal emission standards here." I conclude: "As I am seeking real, good outcomes for here - elimination of physical harm from Mittal and other excessive polluters in this region - like being realized through real environmentalism in Texas, my role in this community is not Mr. Nice Guy. I am the uncompromising polluter-killer who makes the Sierra Club seem like a breath of cool fresh air on an astoundingly dangerous Cleveland July afternoon, like today..." Right on cue, like a breathe of fresh air, I recieved copies today of correspondence from the Sierra Club addressing this very issue, and I asked permission to share that on realNEO as public information and motivation for citizens to engage the government on these issues

I believe as a kid LeBron was encouraged to be the world's greatest basketball player... not greatest CavalierSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 07/08/2010 - 22:14.
I've always liked LeBron James, the human being I've seen grow up in the spotlight in Northeast Ohio and then the world. I liked him best of all on Saturday Night Live, showing how much I'm not a professional sports fan. I also certainly appreciated his efforts to get out the vote in Cleveland in 2008, as shown in these photos from a Russell Simmons Rally then. While I know the unreal NEO media and many citizens will attack LeBron for his decision to continue his professional basketball career with the Miami Heat, next year, I'm thrilled to see an exceptional young man from my region succeed at such a huge level, and with so much of his life ahead. Regarding LeBron changing teams now or ever, that is how the game is played - and often it is teams sending players packing - so it is not like the sports playing field is local, fair or level. LeBron seems to have made a smart, tough career and life decision - one described by an ESPN commentator as the greatest experiment in basketball history.
Texas regulators are failing to properly monitor, control and enforce federal emission standards! Like in Ohio?!Submitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 07/08/2010 - 17:20.
Real bicycle commuter riding to work in a lumber yard in the Cleveland Flats. His work didn't cause this smog. Why am I so hostile toward Ohio leadership? Must be the poison in the air! And, the life in hell lived by real environmentalists. Consider what is necessary to clean up the air in environmentally-compromised Texas, where "Environmental groups say Exxon Mobil refinery violates U.S. air law" - "The environmental groups' legal maneuvers are part of broader accusations by the organizations and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that Texas regulators are failing to properly monitor, control and enforce federal emission standards." You think it is any easier to deal with the greatest corruption on Earth - the corruption of our environmental laws - right here in highly corrupt, polluted, old-economy Northeast Ohio?

US EPA Forecast for Cleveland-Akron-Lorain, OH - Thursday, July 8, 2010 - 2nd Worst Air Pollution in AmericaSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Thu, 07/08/2010 - 00:47.
07/08/2010 - 00:00 07/08/2010 - 13:59 Etc/GMT-4 Now in our sixth day of high temperatures, high humidity, high levels of air pollution harm and considerable human suffering, the Cleveland-Akron-Lorain area of Ohio now has the distinction of being on the U.S. EPA's Forecast list of 5 worst pollution locations in the county for July 8, 2010 - and our pollution monitoring equipment is not working consistently in the region, so our air pollution is likely worse than recorded and/or reported by the EPA. So, if the EPA finds real NEO #2 in America for pollution, I'm quite sure we are in fact #1. Not a reason for LeBron to remain in Cleveland. Definitely a reason to stop burning coal in Northeast Ohio and world-wide. ( categories:

Medical Marijuana Bill Takes Root in Ohio - State Sen. Bill Seitz supports concept, but not this billSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 06/21/2010 - 16:53.
Depending on how you read the tea leaves, support for some sort of marijuana legalization might be at an all-time high among Americans. The results of an Associated Press/CNBC poll released in April showed 55 percent of Americans opposed an end to prohibition. But when those polled were asked to compare the hypothetical regulation of marijuana to that of alcohol, 56 percent said marijuana regulation should be the same or less strict than the regulation of alcohol. In Ohio, Democrat State Rep. Kenny Yuko of Richmond Heights, a Cleveland suburb, recently introduced House Bill 478, which would legalize the use, growth and dispensing of medical marijuana for persons suffering from debilitating conditions including cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis and Crohn's disease. “This is a very easy remedy for therapeutic relief,” Yuko says.
