This attachment covers the hearing scheduled at BOZA - and see who requested the postponment. The proposed plan being a Storefront Renovation Project Loan. I did some checking today and from old timers in the neighborhood, that gas station has been a garage for at least 60 years.

A BASHING IN TREMONTSubmitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 22:29.
Now, in the community I live in, this is a bashing. Frank Giglio's home, while he was under police guard, in threat of going to jail, as they smashed his house to smitherines.

A BASHING IN TREMONTSubmitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 22:17.
To jb and dbra, All evening I've been thinking of an appropriate answer to the post by jb wherein she refers to my "TWDC Bashing." As I go over months and months of research material, files and notes, I find myself asking the question, "what the hell am I doing in the middle of all this bullshit?" I could easily dump all papers, files, documents and pictures in the garbage and sit my rear back in my easy chair and let life go on. ( categories: )
A TRAGEDY WAITING TO HAPPEN - WEST 14TH STREET ROUNDABOUTSubmitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 12:44.
Since before the Old South Side Community Coalition's first meeting in June, I had a number of residents that live in close proximity of the West 14th Street Roundabout asking for help in getting some kind of traffic regulators put in place due to the number of accidents as a result of the dangerous traffic patterns and design.

ANOTHER LONG-TIME TREMONT RESIDENT/SMALL BUSINESS OWNER BEING GIVEN THE BUM RUSH! FAIRFIELD GAS AND AUTO - 1001 WEST 10THSubmitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 03:40.
Sam Jawhari has lived in the Tremont Community for a long time. He is raising three children, and owns/leases the Fairfield Gas and Auto on Fairfield Avenue. The location of Sam's business has been a garage and gas station for four, five or more decades. Sam is one of the nicest and most considerate neighbors/businessmen in our neighborhood.

As my sister-in-law and I made our way through Thurman Alley today passing out flyers for the OSS meeting, we encountered a number of residents either on their porches, walking up and down the sidewalk and/or exchanging conversation over fences.

TREMONT STREET SIGNS MISSING.........AGAIN!Submitted by jerleen1 on Sat, 08/15/2009 - 00:17.
Over the past two months or so Councilman Cimperman, Traffic Engineer Rob Mavec and Henry have walked the Tremont Neighborhood and documented street signs that for some reason or another have disappeared from their proper post. A number of these postings were, "no parking from here to the corner," "fifteen minute parking - two hour parking," etc., signs.

PROGRESS - IN TREMONTSubmitted by jerleen1 on Fri, 08/07/2009 - 09:21.
This is a odd and most unusual post for me to put out but I guess stranger things have happened. Last night I attended a ED/LRP meeting at Tremont West Development Corp. I don't really know what happened, maybe is has something to do with that old saying "when pigs fly," but for the first time since I've been going to that committee meeting they had all their ducks in a row. Progress reports and up-dates on a number of issues that have been the center of major concerns clearly indicated that resident voices are being heard.

PEOPLE IN THURMAN ALLEY - WANT TO SEE THE FLYING MONKEY - FLYSubmitted by jerleen1 on Sun, 08/02/2009 - 22:35.
The loud music blasting from the illegal permitted patio of the Flying Monkey have a number of residents in Thurman Alley wishing that the Monkey would fly already. Residents who live in close proximity of the establishment say that the noise goes way into the night - keeping them awake and on edge. Some even told me today that they're having some of the same problems as everybody else with the lack of consideration these nightclubs have in not realizing that people work, children go to school and the lack of sleep keeps everybody on edge.

TREMONT WEST DEVELOPMENT TRANSFERRS REAL ESTATE HOLDINGS TO 2406 PROFESSOR LLCSubmitted by jerleen1 on Sun, 07/26/2009 - 08:17.
Tremont West Development Corp. Director/Board Members/Finance Managers, etc., have been busy at work. It seems that they have recently been transferring all of their real estate holdings over to 2406 Professor LLC. Since I'm not a real estate expert and being a suspicious person by nature, I hear ching, ching, ching with my red flags popping up all over the place. I have also noticed that even with the stepped up housing code enforcement in this area, those properties are some of the worst looking in the community.

Learning Experience - BOZASubmitted by jerleen1 on Mon, 04/20/2009 - 17:19.
Since becoming involved with my (Tremont) neighborhood goings-ons and concerns, I decided that in order to fully understand the needs and to be effective in supporting the needs of my neighbors, it was my duty to learn all I could on all levels of community organizational practice and procedures. Today, I tip-toed into my first BOZA hearing.

dante's restaurantSubmitted by jerleen1 on Wed, 12/10/2008 - 09:24.
I do believe Mr. Dante skipped a step or two - nobody at the Central Block Club - the area in which his establishment is possibly going to reside - has heard from anyone representing this business. No proposals have been submitted. Who's he stroking? Where's he going to park his cars - everybody else has dibs on the spaces already? Why did his fine dining joint not make in the previous place? Inquiring minds want to know?
