GIFTS FOR A COUPLE OF UNCLES DOWN IN THE HILLS OF VIRGINIA

I just finished making two sets of these quilted pillows to send to two of my uncles that live back in a hollow of the Virginia Hills.  I wanted to post them next to Jeff's deer photo but I don't know how to do that so I had to do it this way.

HACKSAWERS ON THE LOOSE AGAIN IN TREMONT - PARKING REGULATOR SIGNS SHORTENED AND MOVED

Submitted by jerleen1 on Fri, 11/06/2009 - 13:34.
002.JPG

The mysterious hacksawers have struck again.  Right in plain veiw out the window of the Treehouse on the corner of Professor and College they whacked off a green pole that boasted a "no parking from here to the corner" sign and re-deposited it about three yards forward and several feet shorter.  The white sign which is now near the stop sign was once where the white spot of concrete is now.

TOW-PATH - SIDEWALKS UNSAFE NEAR TREMONT WEST 14TH ST. ROUND-ABOUT

Submitted by jerleen1 on Sat, 10/31/2009 - 01:27.

A section of the bicycle trail and sidewalks come up the hill from Steelyard Commons and joins the West 14th Street Round-About.  In view of the number of accidents, specifically the number of semi's along with their monsterous loads that keep flipping over and  onto the sidewalks, should pedestrians or cyclists feel safe in traveling these paths.

Since there are no warning signs before a big truck flips, these haulers of such heavy loads put pedestrians and cyclists in the vicinity of this circle at a much greater risk.

The Tremont West 14th Street night sky was lit up tonight with  flashing police strobes, flares, fire department, emergency crews, cautionary beacons streaking through the darkness as they all worked  earnestly directing traffic, securing the perimeter, keeping on-lookers at bay and maintaining control on the scene of yet another semi-tractor trailer and it's load lying on the sidewalk in the much dreaded Round-about.

TWDC AGENDA - MISSING QUORUM CALL AND MEETING CALL TO ORDER FOR NOEVEMBER 11

I'm sure that many of you by now have received your white envelope from Tremont West with your membership information with regard to the special meeting on Nov. 11.

I found a number of issues that concern me in this little packet.  First one, even before I opened the envelope.  Mine had two lables on it.  Did TWDC violate their by-laws by giving me another members  name.

OSS RESIDENT COMPLAINTS - PRODUCES BUSINESS OWNERS PARTICIPATION IN WILLINGNESS TO TRY

Submitted by jerleen1 on Sat, 10/24/2009 - 11:11.
IMG_0862.JPG

Again, it seems that somebody had their ears on at the OSS meeting last Monday night.

This morning I arose to find Treehouse business owner Tom Leneghan and Jason Beudert on College Avenue with a truck load of orange cones, yellow tape and laminated signs stating "Tremont Resident Parking Only."

They were attempting to block off street parking for residents before the bar's sports patrons began arriving.

At the Old South Side Community Coalition meeting on Monday, October 19, 2009, in crowded room (standing room only), Tremont residents gatherd to once again discuss their concerns relating to parking and noise issues arising from the onslought of the up-scale restaurant/bars/nightclubs that plague their neighborhood.

CAN WE CONSIDER THIS A SMALL VICTORY - PROGRESS OR ARE THEY JUST LOSING GROUND?

Submitted by jerleen1 on Thu, 10/22/2009 - 10:50.

Ok Folks, you can say it happened here.  This fenced outdoor patio obstructing the public right of way has been discussed at several meetings and - as you can now see, YOU HAVE A CLEAR THOROUGHFARE.

Can we call it a victory, or is this just progress or maybe they are just losing ground.  Either way - the second gate is gone and you can get through with a wheelchair, a stroller or a wagon of little fellers.  Enjoy.

Somebody must have dropped a dime  - the gate left awfully fast.

Submitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 00:16.

Another standing room only session for the Old South Side Community Coalition.  As the Jefferson Library conference room began to fill with members, new and old, TWDC Board member Henry Senyak, Councilman Joe Cimperman, Cleveland Municipal Court Candidate for Judge, Greg Groves and Plain Press reporter Chuck Hoven, the only faces that seemed to be  missing were the TWDC By-Law Committee Representatives.

TREMONT WEST AND THOSE ILLIGITIMATE VOTES DUE TO LACK OF QUORUM - STRAW POLLS?

Submitted by jerleen1 on Mon, 10/19/2009 - 13:19.
City_Planning_001.jpg

Will Tremont West attempt to conduct business on November 11, 2009, before calling quorum as they did with that illigitimate vote at January's annual meeting?  Will the rush to vote on the proposed changes for the by-laws and Articles of Incorporation be another illigitimate (straw poll) pulled out of Tom Cook's hat? - especially since  Councilman Joe Cimperman has declared that even the City's Planning Commission CANNOT CONDUCT BUSINESS AND WILL BE CANCELLED if there are not enough members present to constitute quorum.

TREMONTERS BEWARE - THIS WAS CLEARLY MEANT TO BE A WARNING

I believe that this is an old picture - I don't recognize the canvas nor the artists hand work but clearly it is meant to be a warning and when I was growing up in the hills as a kid, if you couldn't read, the one thing you learned to do early on and that was recognize a skull and cross bones - and avoid at all cost.

LARRY CORNEET POSTED HIS COMMENTS ON TREMONTTRUTHS AFTER ATTENDING A TWDC BY-LAW COMMITTEE MEETING

Submitted by jerleen1 on Wed, 10/07/2009 - 21:33.

The proposed TWDC bylaws specify that the TWDC Board will appoint all voting
members of its committees, along with their chairpersons. At the TWDC Bylaws
Committee meeting last week, one of the reasons mentioned for this was to help
enable the TWDC to sacrifice of the welfare of selected neighborhoods for what
it perceives to be the greater good of Tremont. By appointing all committee
members and their leadership, the TWDC Board can prevent neighborhoods from
packing committees to prevent such actions.

FAHRENHEIT HAS NO DUMPSTER - PROPS GARBAGE IN PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY ON SIDEWALK - ALFRESCO FOR FURRY FOUR LEGGED CRITTERS

Submitted by jerleen1 on Wed, 10/07/2009 - 15:38.
IMG_0599.JPG

This is the scene almost daily for people walking in the neighborhood up and down Jefferson Avenue.  If the wind is blowing, most of the time walkers have to step over the boxes and garbage strewn across the sidewalk.  Disabled residents have to maneuver around this mess - in hot weather, this causes flies, rats and other vermin in close quarters of the kitchen.

An open venue for furry four legged critters to dine alfresco when the coast is clear and if they happen to be bold, they might just join the humans for supper.

This is a pic that I took last winter showing not only little to no room for handicapped accessability but even not enough room for able bodied pedestrians to make it around the tight squeeze of the fence that is called temporary.  This is not to mention the big semi truck bus kitchen on wheels the size of a house that stays parked either on the corner of Jefferson or Professor blocking the view of traffic coming into the intersection and is sooner or later going to cause a little kid to get seriously injured or killed when it darts out in front of a car because this big thing is

Am looking for anyone connected with the by-law debacle in OBCDC which involved Attorney Carol Heyward.  I understand that maybe Tim and/or Gloria Ferris may have some information that I might find helpful.

If there is anyone who could provide me with some information or could put me incontact with an individual that could provide some legal assistance, I would really appreciate a hearing from you.  Perhaps we could meet.
