A.J. Rocco's Bar will be hosting a viewing party from 7-9 pm for the Citizen Hauser video that will air at 8 pm on WVIZ (PBS).  A.J. Rocco's is located at 812 Huron Road in the Caxton Building (across from the Winking Lizard near E.9th).  Feel free to come early and and stay late.

The Citizen Hauser video was produced by local independent film makers Jonathan Shick and Ryan Rodriguez, with Blue Hole Productions.  The video is unique both in its approach and subject matter as it directly highlights the struggle of one citizen participating in the public process to make Cleveland a better, more sustainable place to live.

 "Opportunity Corridor" has the same level of candor as the phrase "destroy to protect" did during the Vietnam War.  "Opportunity Corridor" is the latest hypocritical corporate spin on the resuscitation of the extension of the Clark Freeway – put to bed at E55th in the 60’s.  The BIG question is:  for whom  will the proposed new highway be an “opportunity”?   The Cleveland Clinic and the University Circle Inc. constituents? or the people who have held their own for years along the proposed route and who stand threatened with eminent domain and removal?

After about a bit more than a century Cleveland will soon have its second (*see the first here: http://www.windpower.org/en/pictures/brush.htm ) substantial wind powered electrical generator.

When I have been on the rim of the Cuyahoga Valley at E30th and Broadway (between the prison and the post office) for the last year with the prevailing SW winds there is a usually a strong sickly obnoxious sweet smell - not the steel mills smell but rather the same smell described by James Renner in the Free Times article here:

Mayor Frank Jackson was sworn in as Cleveland's 56th mayor by Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones on January 2. It was a full house at East Technical High School with most of the city council members present to honor their former president. The new mayor received standing ovations as he entered the room, took the oath of office and after he finished his inspiring inaugural address.

Cleveland Clean Air Century Campaign (with the Ohio Association of Metal Finishers and The Cuyahoga County Local Emergency Planning Committee) workshop designed for local electroplaters who want to learn more about toxic release prevention.

Few people in northeast Ohio realize that they may have fascinating, special creatures of the night, Southern Flying Squirrels, in their neighborhood backyards! These tiny little squirrels have the ability to glide long distances from tree to tree in search of food. How they do this, where they can be found, and what they look like are all part of this exciting and informative pictorial presentation.

Green Energy Ohio (GEO) and the City of Cuyahoga Falls will sponsor a free workshop entitled Lower Your Bills With Energy Efficiency.  The City of Cuyahoga Falls is a model municipality for the state, encouraging energy efficiency in individual homes and powering several bus shelters on solar electricity.
