realNEO ambient music 3: SchismSubmitted by Norm Roulet on Wed, 01/20/2010 - 12:31.
An ambient film of real NEO people walking, shot from outside the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper headquarters, featuring late afternoon activity in the newsroom as seen from Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, realNEO... "Schism" by TOOL is playing in the background, accompanied by the sounds of realNEO.. Tool was co-founded by Maynard James Keenan (born James Herbert Keenan on April 17, 1964), of Ravenna, Ohio. Interesting to learn, from Wikipedia: "In addition to his music career, he has performed improvisational stand-up comedy and ventured into acting. He is the current owner of Merkin Vineyards and the associated winery, Caduceus Cellars, and has part ownership of Stronghold Vineyards, all located in Arizona, where he lives. Among other business ventures, he is a partner in the Los Angeles restaurant Cobras & Matadors, and owns a produce market and an organic market in Cornville, Arizona, the latter featuring a tasting room for his wines as well as a food court." The more I learn, the more I like Maynard. In an interview with NY Rock, Keenan explained, "Everything we release with Tool is inspired by our music. It doesn't matter if it is a video or if its lyrics. The lyrics for "Schism" are nothing more than my interpretation of the music." Also of interest to real NEO, from Wikipedia: "the band members were outspokenly critical of filesharing networks, due to the negative financial impact on artists dependent on success in record sales. During an interview with NY Rock in 2000, Keenan stated, "I think there are a lot of other industries out there that might deserve being destroyed. The ones who get hurt by MP3s are not so much companies or the business, but the artists, people who are trying to write songs."" Tool is one of my favorite bands, and I mean them no harm including their messages in my messages - their art in my art. I buy their CDs (great packaging) and I support them when they tour, and encourage all real NEO visitors to do the same! Is this ambient music video or posting on REALNEO a misuse of any aspect of Tool's intellectual property, and does this cause Tool members harm? Here are the lyrics to "Schism", by Tool - see how you find the pieces fit...
