43 places local site is now online for Cleveland

Thanks to all those who helped propel Cleveland into visibility on the 43 things and 43 places websites, our new version of the 43 places site is now online! It has a local emphasis on neighborhoods, venues, restaurants, and other places to go and things to do. Cleveland was second to get a local site, after only Seattle (which is the hometown of the Robot Coop, a small group of programmers who have developed the interconnected sites called 43places, 43things, 43people, allconsuming, and listofbests). 

 Here's the introductory page for the Cleveland local site... it includes instructions for how to help develop it further, if you would like. Seattle has a much more complete list of neighborhoods than we do, and I would really appreciate some help filling out the list of neighborhoods within the city proper. The Robot Coop folks import information about places in the Cleveland area each day, which then need to be sorted into the proper neighborhoods, and given tags and photos. You can even add stories or comments about different places! I hope you enjoy exploring this site and seeing it develop as new features and content are added over time.

Thanks Sandy - I took the link above but it says the site isn't active yet. Anyways, this looks interesting so I'll check in later - keep us posted on how the community can help.

Cleveland 43 in the making...

 Louis Muenz just checked in to Real Neo a few days back, and, though it looks like he has moved away from inanimate subject matter,  I think his appreciative shots of graffiti are subject for one of the 43 vital aspects of Cleveland.  See Lou’s work at:

Thanks for pointing out the great photos on Lou's site - I'd love to get people together and really promote aerosol art in town and make it an attraction - I started playing with the concept last year on REALNEO at http://realneo.us/dear-peter/dear-peter-lets-make-neo-the-worlds-aerosol-art-capital
and at http://neograffiti-org.bryght.net and the first posting was a link to Lou's website - perhaps some folks would like to work together on this (I think it would attract global attention). In the mean time, I'm taking pictures and will post them as I may.

What is this 43 Thing thing?

I tried the hyperlinks in the first 2 post above and had to do some clicking and picking around before I got to what I think is the site.  But I have no idea what the 43 things is suppose to be about.  Is it 43 internet or web or programming things?  That seems to be what people were giving.  And apparently - at least the way I got to what ever the heck it was that I got to - couldn't find Cleveland.

43 Places is confusing, but reminds me of Couch Surfing

I think it is to help people explore other places, and I see value in grass roots sources for insight on what makes places special. I guess we'll wait and see what 43 Places does in the long run.

The concept feels a bit like the Couch Surfing community at http://www.couchsurfing.com/ where you can meet people and find couches to crash on all over the world... this community started around two years ago and is now up to over 70,000 members in 200 countries... almost 13,000 cities... the web is so cool.
