Thanks

The Republican Party wants to thank you for all  your work.

Bitter Acidic Vinegar...is that the wisdom of elders?

Roldo,

You post what ever you like, and I don't leave smart ass comments.  Yet when I post, here you are, ripe with sarcasm.  I understand you're a senior citizen, so is that the wisdom of elders that you posted about the other day?

And yet, by the example of Dr. King, who died at age 39, the world knows full well what can be accomplished in youth.

You're a war-mongering cheerleader for Obama, just like Joe the "Senatorial Prostitute" Lieberman.

Obama is a man who has never fought in a war himself.  Yet like Cheney and Bush, he's all to willing to justify his murderous crusades--the trillion dollar conquest of Islam.

And again, much like the Bush Junta that promised Conservative Compassion, but only gave up BOMBS BOMBS BOMBS.  It seems the new emperor--President Obama--is poised to do the same, sending more troops to Afghanistan than Bush.

Will you ever get off your knees to take a break long enough to realize Obama is a total hypocrite?

Some senior citizens do indeed grow wise with age...as does some red wine.  But not all.  For vineyards and chateaus know too well that not all red wine ages well...some turns to bitter, acidic, vinegar.

Roldo, hate is not a family value.  And you're totally wasting your time trying to kill the messenger(s) with your nickle and dime intimidation techniques.

Do you have no shame?

Roldo on WRUW

Roldo--It was great to hear you speaking with Meryl Johnson on her Saturday WRUW program It's All About Justice.

Your comments on everything from the Medical Mart, the Garbage Tax and Healthcare Reform were dead-on.

Please also listen to Victoria's program Doing Democracy.  The programs are archived for one week 12/20/2009-12/15/2009,  so please download to your home computer for future reference.

Hey Judas...I mean Laura...why are you

...kissing up to Roldo in this fashion?

You write me friendly private emails, then you jump in on this post to coddle and exalt Roldo like he's your guru at the local temple.

There were plenty of ways in which you could have rightly given Roldo praise, but doing it in this fashion only cheapens brand McShane.

It's not your place to dig Roldo out of a hole he dug from himself.

You can do better than this.

Norm and Susan have both encouraged me to participate here--also urging me to start-up a RealATL.  And I can promise you one thing--in my town--a city of nearly 6 million--if I'm to be involved, this kind of sophmoric cronyism will not be in play.

Differences in opinion are unacceptable--schadenfreude is not.

If you got a bone to pick with me or the beliefs that I agree with, say it, instead of playing these passive-aggressive disengenious, kill-the-messenger mind games.

Eternity

Please LISTEN

To the show--believe me, I don't coddle or cozy up to anyone.  I think we need to ease up on the trigger finger.

Take your own advice...

Correction...perhaps it's you who needs to follow your own advice.

If you want me to listen to what you have to say, you can start by getting off your moral high horse.

Roldo Bartimole

Roldo Bartimole is a respected journalist. Cleveland is better for having had Roldo questioning the politics and decisions made by the elected officials who spend our money and make decisions on our "behalf". I don't agree with every position that Roldo takes, but on the few times that I disagree, I have to question myself as to why. He really makes me think about how things all shake out. He has my respect ALL the time. The level of professionalism that Roldo exhibits is a level that I want to reach sometime in my life. When I came on realneo, one of the reasons that I stayed as flame wars abounded was because Roldo was a member. So thank you, Roldo, for the years that you have given Cleveland, for the shaking up of City Hall and the County. Thank you for sharing your posts on realneo. I know that you have incurred the wrath of mayors, bankers, councilmen, commissioners, and the Pee Dee, but you keep on keeping on.

For you, Max Eternity, you practice what you in turn accuse others of. You are why realneo needs to develop policies as to the why and hows of posting. Basically, I think that you are bonkers and I really don't feel like spending time on you. I just can't justify allowing your vulgar disrespect of Roldo, and others, myself included, to go without it being addressed.

So let 'em rip, Max, I am prepared for videos, lambasting, name calling, slurs of the worst kind. It won't matter. I no longer hope that you will listen, learn, respect and play well with others.

Debbie Webb

The haters pile on...

and the "I Hate Max" pity party begins...with Debbie cheerleading for Roldo.

...blah, blah, blah...poor pitiful Roldo.  He bent over and that meanie Max didn't kiss his ass.

...blah, blah, blah.

All this crap started when I pointed out the racism in media--Microsoft.  Then it really got off the hook when I, like other Progressives, started to point out Obama's FAIL.

My criticism of Barack Obam will continue, regardless of what you, Debbie, Roldo or anyone else thinks.

And quite frankly, whatever name calling you could possible hurl my way, having grown up in a hotbead of KKK activity, currently living in Cobb County--one of the most virulently homophobic counties in the nation--you have nothing in your arsenal of insults I haven't heard already...a thousand times over.

And yet, hate coming from those who attempt to kill-the-messenger has only served to propell me forward.

So, go ahead and humiliate yourself.  Go ahead and create a few fake profiles while you're at it. I'll only turn lemons into lemonade and come out smelling like roses, unlike Roldo who has disgraced himself, by trying to disgrace me.

But I suppose you war mongers have to stick together.

President Obama is a hypocrite, a war-criminal and a war monger.  He has given the public trust away to bankers and now he wants to give what's left away to the insurance industry.

But keep on cheerleading and you'll find your ass living on the streets with pom poms still in hand.

RealNEO is a wonderful site, warts and all.  However, those who share my views, like Howard Dean, Michael Moore, Naomi Klein and others, have an international reach.  I too have an international reach, completely independent of RealNeo.

My accomplishments and resume grows while you and the like play hater.

Welcome to the planet.

By the way, thanks McShane. I'll check that out.

Please listen to Roldo on the WRUW show, if you get the chance.  I think we are all getting played.  It's sad.  I am disappointed with Obama, too, but he's not miracle worker.

I think that for any of us to survive in our sick Milton Friedman/Chicago School-driven economy is a miracle.  I wish Roldo would speak out against some of the local manifestations of the Chicago school--County Treasurer Jim Rokakis and County Land Bank czar Gus Frangos deserve special scrutiny, but no one is going there.

Keep posting Eternity, but give a listen to Roldo on WRUW.

Laura...did you even read...or follow the links...

Said it

I said what I had to say in the first post.

And I'll keep saying...

...what Michael Moore, John Lennon, Keith Oberman, Dr. King, Arianna Huffington, Tavis Smiley, Jimmy Carter, Princess Diana, Howard Dean, Gandhi, Maxine Waters, Cindy Sheehan and other PROGRESSIVES in the US and around the world are saying--have said.

In your supposed "elder's wisdom" you think that by brow-beating me--aided and abetted by the Roldo brigage @ RealNeo--that somehow it will make all of Obama's failures go away.  Perhaps sweeping the truth under the carpet works for you, but there's a lot of Americans who prefer transparancy and democracy...not censorship and opaque governence, which Obama perpetuates and channels a la Bush.

Actually surveying the facts takes too much time from your cheerleading sessions, so I can understand why you continue the path of oblivion, hero-worshipping dissemblers of faux-populism.

i'm just sayin'

and i have only skimmed most of the preceding posts -- but I DID READ THE FIRST POST

Roldo, you're not usually an asshole, but shame on you.

Shame on you for dumping GOP associative guilt on progressives who are sick of being sold out.

Since when is mindlock mandated?

You of all people should know better, and your comment that started this entire flame war is juvenile.

and I am saying

that regardless of who started it, enough is enough.

Corners, please. Referee?

Cease fire? Well, my solution...

...has been not to comment on any of Roldo's posts.

A few months back, when I first made a comment on a post that Roldo had written, where I criticized Obama, I realized then and there, that that would be a very contentious issue moving forward.  Subsequently, if one checks the posts [thereafter] that Roldo has made, I have not chimed in, yea or nay.

I though Roldo would take this as a hint, that I was not in his space, as it were.  However, for whatever reason, he has continued to talk a bunch of shit up on my posts.

You say "Corners", Debbie, and I agree.

There are other posters here who I don't agree with, so I just leave them alone.  Because really, if someone has something to say, why comment, when you can just say it through a post of your own.  And if another person comments something intelligent and decent to your post, then engage them.

However, throwing-up on someone's post, because you don't like what they say is complete and utter bullshit.

People who post here, especially when they have been invited to by core members, should not have to tip toe around, for fear of upsetting the apple cart.

And let me just let you in on a little secret, when you're dealing with big egos and personalities--people who are opinionated--like you, myself, Roldo and others, trying to silence them, only adds fuel to the flames.

Which is to say, that where once I might consider pulling back, because I've been lashed out at, it only serves to invite me to further consolidate, redouble and affirm my position.

Living the life I've lived, teaches you to always be prepared.

So all ya'll need to back the f*ck up off me, and quit this censorship crap.

It's played out...give it up.

That kind of shit might work in Cleveland, but I can promise you, bring it to the ATL and you leave crying.  'Cause these people ain't playing here.

The same can be said of New York's East Village and Downtown San Francisco, where I've lived as well.

You think I'm a son of a bitch? Hahahahahahahahaha...you'll be begging to have me back, once you have to deal with some of the A-holes I've had to confront...I'm talking about people with hundreds of millions of dollars at their disposal, with friends who own billions in real estate.

So for all he has done to earn your respect, there is a world beyond Roldo--beyond NEO.

There are many others who speak truth to power each and every day.

Real co-op is a wonderful experiment, yet if it is to grow past the bounds of a small city (and I don't mean that in a bad way--just statistically speaking) like Cleveland, then dissent must be not only tolerated, but fully embraced.

It is my hope that one day Roldo and I can see eye to eye.  Until such time, if he stays in his corner, I'll agree to stay in mine.

It's really quite simple

I'm sorry -

has anyone negated the fact that health insurance stocks have reached a 52 year high ---

OR IS THAT JUST IRRELEVANT?

because that point was the crux of the original post. Or are we just supposed to IGNORE that fact because (oooh - ahhhhh!) we dont want the GOP to get their panties excited?

This is our lives.

The Americans who fought for our democracy would be disgusted by the rationale in this argument.

It's very relevant...

...and thank you for saying it.

Eternity

the point is lost

 as usual

This is from 9/30/09 when the reports where that stocks began a rapid shoot upwards:

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/09/30/insurers-welcome-defeat/

This country has a lot of problems, 8 years of Bush-Cheney damage with no end in sight to jobs, health care, and the the same old politics as usual. I want accurate information, not O'Reilly style headlines thrown at me. The truth itself is what will form my thoughts, not the way out of balance trash courtesy of Eternity.

That's news worth reporting

...about the 52-YEAR high.

That's the point.  Yes, like your link provides, we've known all along that the insurance stocks, and credit card rates were rising, but with the GOP now fully realizing that Obama will not put up a fight, the stocks are shooting even higher through the roof--reaching a 52-YEAR high.

This didn't happen until recently, as if as you seem to claim September isn't recently either?

Whatever the case...

Like it or not, that's news worth reporting.

Eternity

news is news

Since I never made the above claims, (timeline), and since I think that you are skewed, see below. And, yes, I got the 52 year mark point.

From the AFL-CIO blog,

Health Insurance Profits Soar as Industry Mergers Create Near-Monopoly

Bookmark and Share

by Mike Hall, May 27, 2009

Profits at 10 of the country’s largest publicly traded health insurance companies rose 428 percent from 2000 to 2007, while consumers paid more for less coverage. One of the major reasons, according to a new study, is the growing lack of competition in the private health insurance industry that has led to near monopoly conditions in many markets.

Are you just looking to argue now?

Debbie,

First you take sides with Roldo, then you threaten to insult me with slurs, then you call me bonkers, then you say we all need to go to our "corners" at which point I agree.

Roldo starts a bunch of shit, with his smart ass remark, then conveniently dissappears while you continue to exalt his perfection and cheerlead for Obama.

Things were cooling off.  And now you're back, after having successfully gotten most every one to calm down, here you are hurling new accusations, starting a whole 'nother round of senseless bullshit.

Who's bonkers here?  I mean, c'mon already.

I mean, while you're busy judging me and others, have you even taken the time to look at the back and forth crazy crap you're doing.

It's really quite simple, if you don't like what I have to say, ignore it.  That's what I do with Roldo and a few others here I don't agree with.

When people I don't care for post things I think are lame, I don't comment.  I leave them the fuck alone.

Why can't you do that?

We all know insurance premiums have been rising.  This started with Reagan/Clinton and the first Bush.  So that part of the story is non-news.  Which is why when I originally posted the video of Howard Dean, I made sure it was current events--specifically addressing the latest round of through-the-roof profits, culminating in a 52-YEAR high.

This is not complicated.  This was never a crisis, but look at all of the endless comments that have gone round n round, and for what?

Who's mind has been changed here?

No one's.

And no one has stopped me from posting.

I speed read lighting fast and I type about 70 words per minute.  I can multi-task the likes of which you have never seen, so I promise you...you, Roldo or anyone else...that until the day I die, I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER be silenced.

I don't know what planet you're living on, but on planet earth...that's a fact.

Eternity

Everyone has a point

The Obama administration's collusion with the insurance companies is diabolical.  No doubt.  But, if we continue to fight amongst ourselves, nothing is achieved.

We do need to organize and create movements on par with the civil rights movement of the sixties.  To Eternity and Debra's points--I would like to know how to overturn the continued economic policies of Milton Friedman and the Chicago School.

We are headed for a CLASH.

Absolutely..but we are not headed...

...for a clash, we're already neck-deep in a CLASH.

So, how can we support Progressives and the Left, while supporting leadership--also holding them to account.

How can we support the Middle-Class and the Working-Poor?

Arianna Huffington has been talking about this exact thing, essentially saying that the White House needs to figure out a way to course-correct.

This is a real challenge, Laura.  But I think Howard Dean and Arianna Huffington are doing a great job.  Both have criticized Obama's failings, while also reassuring him of support...without mindless cheerleading.

I think Naomi Klein has really dressed Obama down, which he rightly deserves.  Yet to this, I think Michael Moore has been very supportive of Obama, even as he has branded him "The New War President."

The big mistake that was made here early on with the Obama campaign last year when many of his enthusiatic followers decided to have a political romance with each other that was based on ideology, as opposed to principles and facts on the ground.

Ideological romance is a part of getting votes, I know that.  However, it can't be the one trick pony that's expected to save the day every time.

That said, It's my observation that the White House--led by President Obama--has midjudged the political landscape, and this has come with ramifications and consequences.

As an artist, I know to well the trap of ideological thinking and magical thinking.  Though as an entepreneur-inventor, I also have learned how to break from of mindlock, to create real solutions that are effective and pragmatic, which doesn't mean sacrificing moral integrity or creative lucidity.

Everyone has a point, and your point at this juncture is applicable and true.

I find it interesting that

I find it interesting that Friedman changed his mind about his economic policies in his older years.

Now we have high prices and low or no wages.  What do the economists think the cure for this situation is?  I have a young nephew that is studying economics now, he is actually teaching a basic economics class at Ohio U.   I will ask him what he thinks could overturn the economic policies of Friedman and the Chicago School.

at least

we're "talking" about the issues -

and not arguing about HOW or IF they should be discussed.

good god...

dbra, do you ever have

dbra, do you ever have anything positive to say to me?  What exactly is your problem?

am I talking to you?

I dont think I'm talking to you specifically, sweetie....

check it - if you hit reply to the main post, they stack up here at the bottom...

i think maybe you are too sensitive.

Not too sensitive...just

Not too sensitive...just rather tired of all the negativity that I read here on RealNeo and wondering what the problem really is.  Were you talking to everyone...or to someone other than me...who?

I have often heard it said that it is possible to disagree without being disagreeable.  This is difficult to do, but probably not a bad idea when discussing things in an online forum with people that have all different views of the same subject.   My children's grandma used to always tell all the cousins and siblings to "fight nice".

wHAtever...

seriously..

ITS NOT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good!  I really do try to

Good!  I really do try to fight nice.  <smile>

lmcshane, this is the reply

lmcshane, this is the reply I received from my nephew in answer to your question: "I would like to know how to overturn the continued economic policies of Milton Friedman and the Chicago School."

"That's really more of a political question than an economics one. The short answer is wait until they retire. The state of the discipline is much different now than it was when the Chicago school was really becoming popular. But it's hard to say because almost no new economists are doing Macro - it's a dying
field. I can tell you from experience that anyone doing micro knows very well the limits of "the markets", since a lot of micro right now looks at how markets fail and how to correct them. However, I don't know much about what is being taught to new Macro students, since I don't know any and personally see the
entire field as a failure. We are no better at understanding and control the macro economy now as we were 100 years ago. In what other field have we spent millions of dollars and man hours from very smart people and produced almost no progress. Micro economics is moving forward, but it's becoming so marginalized
and abstract that it hardly has any applications. The kind of schlock you see in Freakeconomics is now enough to win you the John Bates Clark award! Although Elinor Ostrom winning the Nobel is a step in the right direction."

I don't pretend to understand all this but maybe you and some of the other readers can get something useful from it.  My take is that maybe those really smart economists don't know how to get the information on how to earn money to the people that need to know how to do it the most - the poor.  Or the poor are really the good people that don't use trickery and fraud and corrupt practices to get rich? Who knows?  I even pretend to know.  If I knew I would share the information so no one would have to live in poverty.
