GAS LAMPS BURNING 24/7/365 WAY OUT OF STYLE
Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 08/04/2009 - 12:09.
There was a time - about a hundred years ago before the electric arc and bulb - when gas lamps where left burning constantly because their mantles were damaged by burning, cooling, and re-lighting.
Today, there is no excuse to have a gas lamp burning in the day time - or at night for that matter.
Talk about global warming!
You could cook eggs on the top of this driveway gas fixture. Or someone's house could be heated all winter on the energy this lamp wastes all year.
When will we see ENERGY POLICE making citations for this type of energy violation?

Re: GAS LAMPS BURNING 24/7/365 WAY OUT OF STYLE
Hello. I happen to be a a gas lamp enthusiast and have one in my yard that stays lighted regularly. I am very fortunate that you do not live in my neighborhood. The government is already too powerful and has taken too many of our freedoms. The VERY LAST thing that I want is someone telling me what I can and cannot have in MY very own yard when I am the one who chooses to pay for it. Part of the reason I love gas lamps so much is because the are NOT in style. It isn't common to see them on an everyday occasion and in fact, as more people begin think like you do, the less of them there are around. I have the freedom to choose to own and operate one of these lamps just as much as you have the freedon not to.
