There was a time - about a hundred years ago before the electric arc and bulb - when gas lamps where left burning constantly because their mantles [1] were damaged by burning, cooling, and re-lighting.
Today, there is no excuse to have a gas lamp burning in the day time - or at night for that matter.
Talk about global warming!
You could cook eggs on the top of this driveway gas fixture. Or someone's house could be heated all winter on the energy this lamp wastes all year.
When will we see ENERGY POLICE making citations for this type of energy violation?
