I ventured downtown Monday and was shocked by what I saw. Or what I didn’t see. Cleveland – a virtual ghost city. At 11 a.m. At a crossroads of downtown at East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue.

State of Ohio Development Dept. has awarded a $12,500 grant to the EZ Corp. for toilet paper. Company officials had warned that the company could shut down as early as June 1 without the state’s help.

The Wolstein East Bank project is in limbo but that hasn’t stopped the City of Cleveland from feeding Scott Wolstein $1.4 million for land for a future walkway and park along the Cuyahoga River in the Flats.

It looks as though the Plain Dealer will suffer more editorial cutbacks soon as management looks for ways to cut costs.
The talk is as many as 22 more people will be let go.

Who got screwed on the Med Mart deal? Well, you did as taxpayer, definitely. However, so did the city despite the $20 million deal for its properties - 18.5 acres of prime downtown land.
