BILL SCHEELE'S NewCAT PRESENTS LAWRENCE GARTEL - INGENUITY FESTIVALSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 07/14/2006 - 12:36.
NewCAT presents Lawrence Gartel’s multimedia DVD - 280,000 images of India which dance fluidly to the sound of the Indian (who commissioned the project) music producer's score. Gartel and his crew of ten went to India's botanical gardens, monuments (Taj Mahal) - and have elephants stepping in reverse to music which Gartel did not receive from the sponsor until after the filming (with Gartel's Konica Minolta low res) in India. What Gartel has done is a tour de force ORCHESTRATION of images/color/movement to music. SEE IT Susan Miller, Bill Scheele (new media guru and the exhibition’s creator), and Martha Eakin discuss why new media is the front spear in the phalanx of tools which NEO needs to bring to the fore to advance our economy (anyway, I think that’s what they were discussing, and personally I believe this is true). Make sure you take in Sheele’s curatorial triumph at the A. Sisser Gallery Jeweler’s Building during this year’s !OUT!THERE! Ingenuity Festival .
