DAY AT THE BEACH IN CLEVELAND?
What if Cleveland's waterfront looked like this? Well, it could in the summer. We could rip out Burke Lakefront Airport, add a beach, and the tourists would fill up the hotels.
Uh... little difference in the water... but I get you point
Thanks for the lovely picture reminding me how badly I need a vacation. And Cleveland will never be Bonaire.
When I lived out in California (and Palm Beach and Miami) I would go the the beach just to think, and enjoy the wind and sun - in SF gong to the beach is often the coldest thing you can do, with the wind and fog off the Pacific - but what a beautiful experience. We totally fail to leverage that with our lakefront... but then we've made a real mess of the Great Lakes.
When I moved back here from CA I was really used to spending time at the beach so I was drawn to Edgewater. But I found when I went in the water it literally stung - I just don't think it is safe to swim in Lake Erie. I did still like walking and sitting around there, but even at its best it is sad to see such a beautiful natural wonder so destroyed by man. Until we fix it, its just a pretty picture here, so up go the lakefront and view condos pop pop pop.
I know folks are working on Great Lakes restoration - why isn't that a bigger battle call around here?
