Cleveland, OH/Pittsburgh, PA: The September Fine Art & Antiques online auction by Aspire Auctions, Inc., starts Friday September 18th and lots close over a three day period (Sept. 24, 25 and 26) because there are 1242 lots in thirteen categories including paintings, works on paper, sculpture, silver, porcelain & ceramics, fine watches, fine jewelry, glass, orientalia, decorative arts, furniture, books/maps & autographs and oriental carpets.
The highest profile item in the auction is in works on paper; lot 169. Marc Chagall's "Le Cirque Suite", H.C. lithograph, Mourlot 491. The estimate for this rare item is $60,000.00/$80,000.00. Others worth watching in this category include; Paul Signac (French 1863-1935), Giacomo Ball (Italian 1871-1958) and Jacques Villon (French 1875-1963).
Highlights in the painting category include well known Russian painter Julius Sergius Klever (Russian, 1850-1926), dog painter Percival Leonard Rousseau (American, 1859-1937) and Surrealist painter Alexander Sitnikov (Russian, b. 1945)
In sculpture take note of lot 242. Louis Ernest Barrias (French, 1841-1905). The size and condition of "La Nature se Devoilant la Science" (Nature unveiling herself before science) is what make this such a notable bronze with an estimate of $15,000.00/$25,000.00.
American contemporary glass by Jon Kuhn, Toland Peter Sand as well as Swedish and French art glass abound in the auction. Antique glass such as Galle, Steuben, and Tiffany are here as well. Lot 677 is a Tiffany Student lamp with the original Damascene favrile shades. This is conservatively estimated $8,000.00/$12,000.00.
A lovely Austro-Hungarian silver consignment was received by Aspire. These were passed through the generations, and were created in the late nineteenth century and are fresh to the market. This includes a fabulous repousse punch bowl with twelve matching stem cups and the matching tray, all weighing in at approx. 224.56 to. The estimate is $2,000.00/$3,000.00.
Aspire has 237 lots of fine jewelry and that's not including the 34 fine watches in their own category. There is a nice selection of vintage watches such as Pasha de Cartier, Hamilton, Piaget and fine time pieces by Rolex and Vacheron Constantine.
