One of the writers at CoolCleveland contacted me about using some of my photos of the Breuer for an article they just posted here - another interesting proposal for the property, broadening awareness of the issues with the current plan and alternatives... read more

Second Life for Breuer Tower?

Protesters at last Thursday’s rally at the Cleveland Trust/ Ameritrust/ Breuer Tower will tell you that the building – built in 1971 to house the offices of Cleveland Trust Bank – has been vacant for quite a while. They think vacant, however, doesn’t mean depilated or beyond reasonable use. Opponents of demolition converged on the tower late last week, demanding the landmark by a well-regarded architect be considered for preservation, saving taxpayer money.

Some research indicates that architecture firms Kohn, Pedersen, Fox and Cleveland-based Fleischman and Associates proposed to demolish the tower because it is structurally inadequate and a newer structure would be more aesthetically pleasing – or, to quote neo-beatnik M. It is alleged to be the location of the “new county administrative center,” though it seems that no formalized timeline or grand design has been unveiled to the general public as of yet. tried to post Hiti ppt

I tried last night to post the wonderful Breuer in context powerpoint presentation made by Tony Hiti on the Breuer tower issue. It failed. It may be too big. It is 82 beautiful slides covering Breuer's career and history. Any suggestions? Derek said to just attach it, but after a long wait, it didn't attach and my intro text disappeared.

Email it to me and I'll come up with something

I just tried zipping it and it came down to 38MBs. Email your address and I'll put it in the mail today. may have to divvy may have to divvy it up into multiple presentations.

We may have to post it as a series. You may also want to get permission from the author for this.  We want to, at least, attribute the author.

If the file is too big, we can't post it.

he offered the presentation

Hiti offered to let us post the powerpoint so the images are probably in the public domain. I would want to give him the credit for compiling the presentation and the basic context. What would maikng a photo gallery entail -- deconstructing the powerpoint removing the images from the slide presentation?
