Tips for enjoying the 33rd Cleveland International Film Festival March 19-29, Tower City Cinemas

Submitted by Evelyn Kiefer on Mon, 03/16/2009 - 00:38.

Once a year, during the brief run of the Cleveland International Film Festival, Cleveland feels like one of the great cities of the world. For a little more than a week the grand space of Tower City is filled with life; diverse crowds of art lovers flow in and out, steadily buzzing with excitement for what they are experiencing. Because it only happens once a year, it is easy to overlook The Cleveland International Film Festival as one of Cleveland's greatest assets.

Urban Odor

Submitted by DesireeSchmitt on Mon, 03/09/2009 - 19:26.

Strange question..

Our block has a constant skunk spray smell.  It has now lasted through all four seasons, including winter.  Now that the spring rains are here and the moisture has increased the smell is really strong.

Chagrin Highlands

Submitted by lmcshane on Sun, 03/01/2009 - 09:53.

In the late 1990s, then Mayor Michael White butted heads with developer Richard Jacobs, when it was discovered that Jacobs was the shadow player in the Figgie International development team.

Taxpayers footed the bill for the Harvard Ave. interchange that serves the Chagrin Highlands development, just as the taxpayers also funded the Avon interchange that also benefited Jacob Group.

Congratulations Mr. Feagler on your retirement. You may not remember me, the sullen teen dragged along by her father at Higbee's at the Westgate Mall and Rustic's, but I grew up with you, and to me, you finally get to realize my father's dream of Neverland.

POLICE, FIRE SERVICE SHIFTED FROM NEIGHBORHOODS TO BILLIONAIRES

Submitted by Roldo on Wed, 06/25/2008 - 09:09.

We all know that taxpayers were very, very generous to the owners of Major League sports teams in Cleveland. It has cost Cuyahoga County taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars since the 1990s.

What we don’t realize is that the subsidization continues for hundreds of ball games in Progressive Field and Quicken Loan Arena each year. The subsidization also suggests that city taxpayers in their neighborhoods are being deprived of services as the wealthy sports team owners are provided with the safety force protection.
