"Think Big"

Despite growing up in dire poverty with
horrible grades, a horrible temper and low self-esteem, Benjamin Solomon
Carson, Sr. realized a childhood dream of becoming a physician. Since 1984, he
has been Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Medical
Institutions, and is a professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery,
and pediatrics.

Dr. Carson has gained worldwide recognition
as the principal surgeon in several separations of Siamese twins, including the
first separation of occipital craniopagus twins with both surviving, and of
type-2 vertical craniopagus twins with both remaining neurologically normal.

Dr. Carson has received over 30 honorary
doctorate degrees. He was named by the Library of Congress as one of 89 Living
Legends on the occasion of its 200th Anniversary in 2001, as well as one of
America’s top 20 physicians and scientists by CNN and Time Magazine. He is the
president and co-founder of the Carson Scholarship Fund, which recognizes young
people of all backgrounds for exceptional academic and humanitarian
accomplishments.
