 After an extensive speaking tour throughout Australia and Ireland, Nicole Foss is back in North America and it is indeed fortunate that we are able to have her speak with us. A world-renowned economist, scientist, climatologist, and permaculturist, Nicole Foss is uniquely qualified to discuss the confluence of forces that has brought humanity to an unprecedented challenge . She will explore with us, not only how we got into this large, dark hole, but offer the shovels of practical pathways out and forward.


Joining her will be Laurence Boomert, of New Zealand, whose focus is building community resilience and adaptation to energy descent.

Nicole Foss, a.k.a. Stoneleigh, is Senior Editor of The Automatic Earth Blog, chronicling the ongoing credit crunch as the most pressing aspect of our current predicament, integrating finance, energy, environment, psychology, and Realpolitik to explain why we find ourselves in a state of crisis and what we can do about it. Also an energy consultant and financial analyst , Nicole speaks internationally on energy and global finance. Her presentation is intended for anyone not satisfied with the standard media treatment of the current crisis.

Laurence Boomert has a long history in contingency planning, green business development and community up solutions. In the 1990s he founded the 500 member Environmental Business Network, He currently runs the Bank of Real Solutions, an online database of community can-do success stories. He was a co publisher and writer for the book Fleeing Vesuvius: Overcoming the Risks of Economic and Environmental Collapse. Organic farmer, television presenter, founder of a new political party. he serves on national and local trusts dedicated to sustainable living.
