PRESS Advisory
Cleveland (April 27, 2015) – On Tuesday, April 28, representatives from the Western Reserve Land Conservancy and Thriving Communities Institute will brief Cleveland City Council members, as well as invited County Council members, on an upcoming project to inventory every property in the City of Cleveland.
The project, to be conducted this summer by the Conservancy and the Institute, in coordination with the city’s Department of Building and Housing, will collect information on the occupancy and condition of every structure and parcel in Cleveland.
Some Cleveland residents will be trained to help in the survey. Progress will be coordinated with various stakeholders, including City Council, City Hall staff, Cleveland police and non-profit neighborhood development corporations.
The goal is to use the survey as a first step toward identifying and ridding the city of blighted properties, as well as recognizing properties that could be renovated or re-purposed.
Thriving Communities Institute has received support for this project from the Cleveland Foundation. In the past several years TCI has successfully completed similar projects in the Cities of Lorain, East Cleveland, Akron, Sandusky, and in the Mount Pleasant and Buckeye neighborhoods of Cleveland.
