Nelson Cintron Jr supports unification that promotes legislative changes by the people.Submitted by ANGELnWard14 on Thu, 07/23/2009 - 13:51.
You are welcome and thank you for your insightful response.... Let us not allow your legislative ideas/concerns to be in the settling dust bowl for the next 4 years then. Let's get a community of supporters, put it in writing, do the business steps- administrative, collaborative, marketing, and communications necessary to make that legislative idea a reality! If what you have been sitting on for this long is still significant-then let's empower you to lead the way, support you, and let's get a councilman in the seat who won't try to hush you-but who will promote the wants of the citizens through the democratic process... let's build a team/community that collectively can support your goal... Let's make a positive difference. As you stated, everyone claims to know your position...but ultimately doesn't .... What is your position and what changes would you like to implement? I think you have a list of residents who are members of the civic organization REALNEO who may be a great foundation for embracing your considerations and also being respectably appreciated, supported, and promoted by at least, the future councilman I support (and he has experience in doing so!) .... That is why I say to vote for him too, if we vote for the one that will empower us, promote us, and support our community goals... then we are empowering ourselves! (I believe that Nelson Cintron jr has this capacity!) I strongly believe that letting the truth be heard, finally addressed, and being receptive to change will empower all of us to overcome the history, the diversity, and the corruption... It won't be easy, it's a battle that will take a lot of dedication, and ultimately the goal is worthy of the fight... So, yes, I do appreciate finally meeting a group of citizens who are as fed up, tired, and proactive as I feel inside... In your experience with City Council over ten years you evidently were unable to meet your goal... Let's put that on the table and find a way to make it reality pending it's feasibility with the community at large. Let's get support for your ideas, let's promote it, and let's make it reality as a TEAM. You see, what Nelson Cintron Jr. has repetitively reminded me is that he appreciates, encourages, and expects civic involvement. As one citizen, somehow I take it that your voice was not heard historically. I cannot say why or know what the matter of intent was without you sharing it. Most importantly, it cannot be supported unless we bring it to the people for support... If you have genuine, quantitative, objective ideas that make sense, then let's incorporate them into the big picture... There's a lot of reasons and rhymes why our individual ideas never become reality, predominantly because of a lack of collaborated support. In this day and age, with this type of forum being offered and prayerfully with the new election-we'll be able to reignite block clubs and let community reps speak, work directly with the councilman, and work to overcome powerlessness. I, personally, am waiting through this election to see where it goes... At least I know with Nelson Cintron Jr.- everyone will be treated fairly, that he will listen, take into consideration, and respond with answers that provide us with the tools to make our ideas a reality. BJ, I do not personally know your area/issues at this time. After speaking with Nelson Cintron about the many areas and issues he's been hearing, (some new, some old, some different, etc) over these past months, particularly with the new area of the old Ward 15, I believe that he's taking into consideration the diverse different concerns that each group of residents have in our community. I have discussed several issues with him directly and gotten responsible answers that offered the 1,2,3 solutions...and in some cases required me, as a citizen, to get off my behind, go out here on my own street, and do something about the problem instead of wasting time blaming others for why it wasn't changing. (and those ideas do work too!) Yeppers... I used to expect the councilman to do this, do that, and react this way and that way, to be the solution-not offer the solution... But what I have learned in growing up a little-smiles- is that we are all responsible for our community in some way, big, small and in between... when I started taking action, working to empower my other neighbors, and inviting them to partake in the changes... their spirits, attitude, and their actions changed for the better of all... By taking on a small ounce of leadership, promoting a small sense of community around my own home, and engaging my neighbors-good, bad, and indifferent-with face to face respect.... my neighborhood changed dramatically and so did my sense of purpose as a resident. There's over 20,000 people in our ward... how can any one human being HONESTLY say that they would be able to listen to every SINGLE voice without neglecting doing their job as councilman? If any councilman spent all his time listening to complaints-he'd never have time for anything else... like reacting to those complaints, finding viable solutions, and implementing change-let alone seeking out new and empowering development ideas that would benefit our community. It's time for us to work together as a team, setting aside our differences while promoting our consensus. The bottom line is that we need to unite and promote leadership in our block clubs, our community organizations, and within our neighborhoods that provides a consensus of the problems and works through a communication chain that is formidable to making a difference. We need to find solutions within each of our various neighborhoods, then collectively as a community. Heck, I actually planted flowers this year-even after some "less than desirables" stole my beautiful sprawling pink and green leafed plant last year that my friend gave me for Mother's Day and had been hanging out by the back door. After praying that maybe some kid took it forward to his own mom and letting go of the anger, frustration, and resentment that my life was violated... I came be back this year and I took a chance to plant more flowers and care when it felt like no one cared... And I felt good about that. It changed my own attitude. I will say this about the community of Ward 14... there's a lot of disillusioned folks who feel they have been wronged. The combination of governmental factors, the police reduction & subsequent 'BLUE FLU' in 2002-2003, the underlying changes of the steel mills closing, the demographic changes and closets being opened to all diversity, and the current economy combined have simply drained most folks' spirits, attitudes, and pushed them into some of the toughest times in ages. Our people are resilient, but they need to know that someone cares about them... They need leadership.... The lines at the food centers are getting longer-even I have had to use them. The philanthropic donors are getting burnt out... and the little people are hitting points of not wanting to help each other...there's a huge sense of: why should I care? What is in it for me to do something for nothing? I cannot leave my house because they will rob me blind, can't you see that I am living between two gutted vacant houses? A lot of folks are imprisoned in their own minds, homes, and dynamics with no hope in sight.... Nelson Cintron Jr. incites hope, promotes the possibilities, and inspires the neighborhoods to get involved through various avenues so that he can support their diverse needs. He inspires realistic actions towards change. Everytime you try to get excited about something, someone is apathetic, negative, and falls through on the role they were going to play (of course if you have a bunch of money to offer them-then they will work-but they won't be enthusiastic, caring, or proactive-so you end up carrying them through a project like a drill sergeant barking orders to get things done or kissing their behinds to make the littlest job get done- like clearing a vacant lot.) Some folks concerns have simple solutions. Some require a little to a lot of collaboration, teamwork, and community involvement. The major problem I see in Ward 14 is polarization of politics. When any of these candidates finds it in theirselves to be rude, discourteous, or unprofessional with the other candidate-regardless of their differences, then how can he lead a community as diverse as ours? I've seen those polarizing games. It won't be healthy for any of us. I watched several of the candidates give me their speals by knocking the other candidates.... I am guilty of that and have been yelled at about it. It's a challenge that I embrace to promote healthy, qualified and factual points about the candidate I support, not the others. When a lady asked me why I believed in the candidate-I told her as I have told you herein. From my dummy perspective, it's my understanding that there are lots of steps that are required to collaborate, initiate, and promote-let alone sell legislation. The more unified a team is in doing the leg work, the better off the community will be at accomplishing their mission. When a councilman can work with his community in a unified matter-then we can accomplish many goals... and the seeds of change will be planted... one person, one place, and one community at a time.....collectively. Let's unite, let's work to promote your ideas, and let's build bridges that towards positive changes!

Maybe those so high on
Maybe those so high on Cintron should look at these items about Cintron. I'm tired of reading propaganda of the type above about the man on this site.

With all due respect
Roldo, don't you think that Cintron's past personal life might warrant a little forgiveness, especially if he has repaired his family scars, AND, especially, given the enormous leeway you are giving Jeff Johnson, a convicted felon?
How is your post--largely personal opinion--any different than Angel's post? I think calling Angel's posts propaganda is a bit out of line, especially as you can not vote for any of the available candidates. That said, I truly respect the authority and history you bring to the information posted at this site and I am curious to know who you would endorse, if you could elect the representative for Ward 14?
Mr. Cintron is a REALNEO/REAL COOP Member
I hope he'll use this forum to personally present his platforms and defend his record, and explain change and progress in life. This is a good place to get to know him better. I'm glad to see residents of the ward working through all this. I'll love to see discussion like this develop about my neighborhood.
In the near future!

forum
Norm, I love the idea of this forum being used by the candidates themselves as you stated above. There are a lot of wards and candidates so some ground rules would be in order, but I hope that it happens.

what is it?
Sorry, hit the wrong button and posted an empty space!
I have spent time today wondering if the pro-Cintron postings are propaganda vs. naive enthusiasm. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt and think that Cintron has grown. Then I re-look at the list of accomplishments that Angel has posted. Some of these things I, along with other residents, were involved in and I know that Cintron was not. While I am used to politicians naming any positive accomplishment that happened at any times as their own feat, I have a really difficult time seeing this posted here, on realneo, and NOT calling it campaign propaganda. It is.
I did not want Cintron returned four years ago. He did not learn during the eight years that he had, and his personal life and poor choices were made public and this became an embrassment.
I really wish Cintron well. He is not an evil person. He was not re-elected fours years ago. His work to recall Santiago failed (he was on my street with the recall petitions). There is a reason for this.
I hope that he gets a really good job in the private sector.

I know the difference
I know the difference between a Jeff Johnson and a Nelson Cintron. I've seen them both in action.
There have been some five or six pro-Cintron postings in just the last couple of days.
Maybe there needs to be some balance.
If someone puts in a little reality I don't know why, McShane, you should think you should determine what's said.
I will reiterate - because I believe it is important to Clevelanders - Cintron is not up to prime time. Just my opinion, others may differ.
What's the difference?
I still don't understand your belief in Jeff Johnson and why that belief should not extend to Nelson Cintron. Truthfully, I wish there were candidates throughout the City of Cleveland that TRULY stood out as impassioned, energetic, honest, accountable leaders...I am not endorsing Cintron here, only giving him a chance to rise to the level of community we need in Cleveland. Unfortunately, no one really inspires me in the Ward 14 race or the Cleveland mayoral race, or, for that matter, any office in Ohio...except perhaps Jennifer Brunner in her campaign for the Ohio senate.
Truth in Ward 14 Quality of Life Issues relevant to leaders...
MR. ROLDO.... NELSON CINTRON JR IS MY CHOICE FOR WARD 14 COUNCILMAN... I SUPPORT HIM...THAT'S MY CHOICE. HE'S GOT A LOT OF GREAT QUALITIES, EXPERIENCE, AND FACTUAL CONSIDERATIONS THAT ARE WORTHY OF A CONTENDING VOTE IN OUR COMMUNITY.
YOUR PERSONAL OPINION IS YOURS... AND IF IT MET THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY AT LARGE-I MIGHT VALUE IT...BUT I DON'T. I FIND IT SHALLOW, FILLED WITH YOUR OWN SEETHING NEED TO UNDERMINE A MAN WITH A FAMILY WHO CARES PASSIONATELY ABOUT HIS COMMUNITY!
I can appreciate your efforts to bring a man down who's busting his behind for the people in OUR Community-you know-the WARD all your friends keep reminding you that you don't live in....
When you come live here, then please do share an opinion... Until then, quit trying to hurt the people who do care! Let's get real here... Instead of providing any of us with something concrete, something realistic, and something that you support & why... you bash the one man who does know this community, work to benefit our people, and who does COLLABORATE to get enumerable missions accomplished---Mr. NELSON CINTRON JR...but you missed all the negatives about SANTIAGO, like him using CDBG funds for fireworks when we have folks starving in this community!
I am comically amused by your threatened need to act like all the other candidates-promoting the negatives.... And since you want balance... I shall give it to you.
Rick Nagin, Moises Torres, and Londie Viccarone (Now off the ballot) all asked me to work on their campaigns.... as campaign manager....ISN'T THAT SPECIAL? Why, because they know that I know the people, that I work with them without prejudice, and that I advocate for their best interests. They know that I care deeply about our people and won't hesitate to do what's right to protect those folks. I found fault in all of them-particularly polarization and the inability to know basic concepts about this campaign...like how to effectuate simple housing complaints!!! Come on now... By the way guys... there are still white people in this community and many other races than hispanics... respect the need for everyone to represented with dignity... VOTE FOR NELSON CINTRON Jr.
I am so fed up with this corrupt city, the disgusting pigs (not cops) who can't be professional about the politics and the one's who don't have an ounce of knowledge on how to do the job. But, you want me to waste another four years supporting those other candidates??? I really thought you were brighter than that.
You have Santiago- a man who spent like 8 years lying to the federal goverment as an enlisted Navy man? (PROFESSIONAL FRAUD) trying to act like he's done something for our community.... Well, why don't you stroll down West 47th street between Storer & Denison and see how wonderful that street is....or was that a Cummins street? These neighborhoods have seniors in fear of their lives, felons commingling b/c that's their common ground and they have nothing better to do, drug dealers, and thugs.... with baby mommas struggling to afford feeding their kids amidst people who claim fame to working with the community at the Spanish American Committee...wow! Get real... By the way...now that it's an election year... we have collaborated the STATE Highway Patrol and the City to conduct random stops...wow....nice job guys! Couldn't do that the last 4 years...GOOD JOB-A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT!
I could blab all day about SANTIAGO'S failed leadership between 2006-2010.... he thought it was so easy, he thought he could rid Ward 14 of the ugly less than desirables...then he ignored them... I found out about the 2nd District Community Relations meetings because of a COP that I know who kept telling me to go-not a councilman... not a supposed leader. WHY? Because they make those meetings for the folks who are significant to the candidates and depend on the candidates to promote their events... but Santiago only told his closest allies...
Ask a resident if they have a block club? THEY SAY No most of the time. Ask them to be in one...they say no again because they are afraid. Call the commander to address a drug house and thugs-he says they have watched too many movies...WHAT?!!!!????? Look... you don't get it b/c you just don't live here!
Look, I never said Cintron did all that work by himself and neither did he. NELSON CINTRON Jr supported & promoted proactive community improvement, investments, and collaborations of enumerable people's projects, work & development in our community...
NELSON CINTRON Jr wasn't trying to do it all alone, like Santiago. He wasn't spewing at the Ward leaders, cutting them out of doing their jobs, stopping community forums because we, the people, embarrassed him during his dog and pony shows to the big wigs and then Santiago prided himself in cutting out the community development, while treating the people he had differences with in contempt...
Perhaps you should quit trying to demotivate the people who live here-it's tough enough here getting people to be involved in their own communities and neighborhoods... let alone reading your negative posts.
When you get off your behind and come out here, walk these streets, talk to these families, hear the truths about PROSTITUTES WITH AIDS BEING PICKED UP ALONG SCRANTON OVER BY METRO & CLARK BY HIGH ROLLER EXECS and then going into houses that these big wigs either own/rent on Valentine and uncountable other streets-then you begin to wonder about life itself... When you live in this WARD-then maybe you'll stop thinking someone else has the right stuff.
Does anyone remember the BLUE FLU in 2002-2005 that also helped our Ward slide further into oblivion! The cops quit writing tickets, quit responding, and allowed anything to go for quite awhile in our neighborhoods. Politics... Guess that was the councilman's fault too? Give it up for the police and how much they did to improve community relations back then! (NOT!)
Where's the community at large's responsibility in the state of affairs of thier own community? Please...play politics again for me to ask what responsibility everyone within our Ward took in improving the quality of life when Nelson Cintron Jr was in office.
While you sit in your comfortable position, with your big paycheck/retirement check, and philosophically lacking opinions-get real about OUR community's needs! Get real about the fortitude of a man you have failed to give a bit of courtesy, forgiveness, or respect to because he didn't meet your expectations.
Where's the leadership been? Well, it hasn't been here in 4 years. Maybe you ought to remember the fact that as a member of the VFW, Mr. Santiago-was called to help his own organization through some struggles, he denied help. He wouldn't use his position of power to promote it, say 'HEY' to the community or even respect the need. He got an attitude. What more could you expect?
Look, I could name dozens of avenues that Santiago was invited to be a part of the community, to help his businesses, to support his veterans, or to promote the school needs in his community...and he floundered at every corner to include supporting vocal, grass roots citizen groups....where have you been the last 4 years?
Cummins said that he is NOT FAMILIAR with our people... that he'd be learning a lot to integrate himself. Wonderful, we can be a project for him! He is a member of the GREEN PARTY and I don't have to appreciate that. I am quite disrupted and defensive about veterans being put at the bottom of the green party's list of priorities. Sorry, cannot give my vote there. I admire his education, skills, idealisms, and much about him... But, not enough for me to open the door to the agenda & loyalties of ANY Green party representative. That's my choice.
You don't have to like my choice to support Nelson Cintron, play devil's advocate for your buddy-and his negative politics-Mr Santiago...nor do you have to agree with me. I am not here to insult anyone. Nelson Cintron remarried and divorced his wife after that entire case...comical, huh? I guess it was worth his career? Wasn't it? Did you report the whole story...to include the acquittal of the charges by a jury? Of course not... only something to disrupt the facts that work for you. BTW...have you read Santiago's campaign literature??? Please... once again using negative politics to win the race----guess that's all he's got left!
CLEVELAND, Posted 5:00 p.m. August 9, 1999 -- A Cleveland councilman did not beat his ex-wife.
Nelson Cintron is up to prime time... quit sounding like Tim Russo by projecting your own self image on others. Nelson Cintron Jr is worthy of the vote, the respect, and the consideration.
repression
Of opinion is not the way to have an open forum. I highly value Roldo's opinion, and have for many years. I want his perspective on City of Cleveland governement and the politicians. I will not slam him if I disagree. It makes me think more and I like that.
I will not live in the new ward 14 for the first time ever, but I will continue to give my opinion on my experiences with Cintron. I have an even less favorable opinion of my current councilperson, Santiago. These new boundaries that will go into effect January of 2010 does not make my opinion less valid because I will no longer live in Ward 14 when the boundary moves south.
I think that trying to compare Jeff Johnson and Nelson Cintron to be apples and oranges. They are worlds apart.
Orbit
BTW...Nelson Cintron Jr also......
Unlike the sneaky, lacking, and incapable competitors who just don't have the answers, just don't know the requirements, and who find it okay to promote polarized, underhanded political agendas.... NELSON CINTRON JR. has repetitively offered any one of you the opportunity to ask him directly any concern of yours... he has invited and respected your opinions. What have you got to lose by calling him and addressing any concern under the sun? NOTHING!
So, for those that are actively engaged in positive, proactive, and collaborative efforts.... you might want a person in office who promotes your efforts...and that person IS NELSON CINTRON Jr. SO, call him... maybe all those things you haven't gotten help with yet will come to blossom... NO STRINGS ATTACHED! Perhaps you'll find the self fortitude to overcome the reasons that your projects and efforts have been stonewalled by other leaders. Perhaps you'll find some sense of value, respect, and appreciation from NELSON CINTRON JR...
CINTRON TELLS HOW TO PROMOTE LEGISLATION WITHOUT COUNCIL
It has always been my goal to support our community at large in achieving their desired goals collectively. I want to inspire your efforts and I offer to help you, regardless of the election results, to develop your ideas, and to promote them for the best interests of the community.
You all appear to have passionate causes and I validly support them. It is not my policy to deter concerned citizens from sharing their ideas. It is my policy to support and promote your ideas and considerations and support those goals as a community through the democratic process. I invite participation from everyone individually and collectively.
There are so many of you who wish to promote things and I want to help you accomplish your missions. If anyone has something specific that they would like help with, please do not hesitate to call me. I have no problem sharing information with you. I am providing the detailed process and link for how our citizens are able to make legislation.
CITIZENS CAN PROMOTE LEGISLATION WITHOUT COUNCIL:
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/clevelandcodes/cco_charter_07.html
In order to pass legislation you don't need a councilman to do it for you at all.
Under City Charter, any resident can circulate a petition, gather 5,000 signatures of the electors(voters), and promote it to City Council. City Council has 30 days to hold a public committee meeting, discuss that legislation, and react to the legislation (pass/amend). If council makes recommendations for amendments to the legislation-it has to be approved by the committee (circulators) of the petition. If Council reacts not to vote on it, then a special election must be held in the City of Cleveland.
Feel free to call me directly if you have any questions.
Work around
Gotta love that! (See above post)
Thank you Nelson, like Brian Cummins, for using this forum.
I can work with you on citizen-driven change.
How do we STOP the ODOT Walls of Jericho from happening?
Cleared....now move on with the Polarization.
Let it rest for his family.
He's trying to make a difference & you are not.
helping me make the Cintron decision
Angel I have to call foul for the following:
>> You have Santiago- a man who spent like 8 years lying to the federal goverment as an enlisted Navy man? (PROFESSIONAL FRAUD) trying to act like he's done something for our community.... Well, why don't you stroll down West 47th street between Storer & Denison and see how wonderful that street is....or was that a Cummins street?<<
Playing cute with the ward boundaries. I have friends - good people - who live in the Storer Avenue community. Santiago's ward and ignored, yes. As it was by Cintron.
People love to trash that neighborhood. The PD did a good job with that. Yep it's rough to be sure, and as we continue to topple further into the Great Depression we are NOT allowed to call this - Storer Avenue may be the only place to survive as it has all the necessary businesses. READ: banks, convenient stores, auto repair shops, the barbershop, etc . . . i know, i've been to these businesses, they are good people.
The slight and slam to Cummins is uncalled for.
Though your post does nothing to persuade as to who i might vote for it does much to lead me away from reconsidering Cintron.
Slam to Cummins
Cummins said that he is NOT FAMILIAR with our people... that he'd be learning a lot to integrate himself. Wonderful, we can be a project for him! He is a member of the GREEN PARTY and I don't have to appreciate that. I am quite disrupted and defensive about veterans being put at the bottom of the green party's list of priorities. Sorry, cannot give my vote there. I admire his education, skills, idealisms, and much about him... But, not enough for me to open the door to the agenda & loyalties of ANY Green party representative. That's my choice.
BJ--I can tell you from personal experience that Brian Cummins has a real communication problem, and I speak ENGLISH... I have asked him, time and time again, to publish the GOOD things he has done--most of all, the complicated grant process and fulfillment of the Treadway Creek bike trail, sparing the historic Wirth House on Denison Ave from the demolition agenda (not sure he will follow through with this, though), recruiting an investor to save one of our most distinctive historic Archwood homes--the Coates House. And, the good will generated by his aide Johanna and her husband Darren Hamm by painting homes and community organizing through the Brooklyn Centre Community Association, Fresh Stop CSA food, and supporting our safety forces.
As for GREEN--I have elaborated here, that Brian is just using the now popular "green" camouflage campaign to appeal to liberals, who want to feel good about themselves. The NRP Investment scheme he allowed on his watch will be his ultimate shame, if he allows it to continue. It's more $$$ made off the backs of the "poor, uneducated, old, skin color, language," formula, I mentioned in Roldo's post.
Just like his predecessors, Rokakis/Gordon/Lipovan, Brian is leaving a big, stinking mess for other's to clean up, once he has moved on to "greener," suburban pastures...
thanks lmcshane
You've had experience with Cummins I have not. Thank you for the input, i take it to heart with meaning.
I agree with another post of yours i saw wherein you note that you are not impressed with any candidates: city council or mayor. And then the hope for someone who truly cares is "impassioned" (i think you used that word).
As our society is premised on the fact that any elected official will be expected to spend more than at least one year's salary on the seat they seek, fact is elected officials are beholden to the purse strings that buy their seat. We can all go on about how we want it to be different BUT the fact is more money is needed to obtain the seat the anyone could justifiably have from holding the seat.
Legislative elected officials do not have to answer to the resident voters but to the economic voters who hold their purse strings and therefore right to their job.
A simple fact - Santiago does not liven Ward 14 and has never indicated that he believes Ward 14 residents are his constituents. He seems to pretty much just party in Tremont.
. . . and a related Ward 14 matter:
The gerrymandering in 1990, 2000 and now with the redistricting for downsizing council AND another census redistricting next year there has been but ONE COMMON THEME FOR CLEVELAND CITY COUNCIL - disempower the voters of Ward 14.
My fear is that if Cintron is elected again he will simply be a whipping boy for city council. How it seemed during the eight years he served.
Gerrymander a hispanic/latino district and then turn that rep into council's whipping boy. This is NO comment on Cintron but on how his colleagues seemed to behave in his regard. Guess it makes them look strong to agree as to who they'll beat up on. Result, Ward 14 voters are disempowered.
argh i could go on (please goddess stop me . . .) BUT, how about City Council can live anywhere they want but City employees have to live in the City. I mean much more tax base from the employees. And they actually work for the residents!
Cintron maybe the only run running who actually has resided here, will reside here and may be able to actually appreciate what the residents are facing - BUT - if his peers on council are going to beat him down - do we have a voice?
liven - live in - typos abound
my apologies as there were requests this week for better proof reading - i try
until someone hits "reply"
to your comment, you can still go back into it to edit it. Just click on "edit".
And Brian...
Hasn't been a whipping boy?? Gotta swim now...stay afloat :)
balance
Some fairness is called for here. Yes, Cintron was aquitted. There were several times that his wife called for intrevention and I will never gloat that he got off on this. I do know that while living with his wife had had a child with another woman. Do I care about that?
What I do care about is a person who had 8 years to learn and did not. He was defeated. He ran a recall against Santiago. He lost. He ran for State Senate, and he lost. He needs to stop running and gain some experience.
Again, I never had a bitter experience with Cintron when he was my councilman for eight years. He relationships with the departments that deliver City services was so bad that I could not go to him for help. His relationships with his peers was so bad that original legislation from Ward 14 never got anywhere.
Angel & McShane, have either one of you had him as your councilman? What is the basis for the support? Please share....

THE CITY REGIME OF CLEVELAND NEEDS OVERHAULED
Thanks for verifying the truth about how the City Hall regime disempowered Ward 14 collectively during Nelson's first 8 years.... NOW -IN 2009, THAT -we the citizens know what to expect and how to go down to that City Hall in force, how to support our goals as residents, and how to call a spade a spade with their dirty politics on our Ward- it's time that collectively-WARD 14 Residents prepare to battle ALL OF CITY HALL'S REGIME to do the right thing- for the benefit and rights of our Ward and believe me you- I am more than willing to go down there and watchdog those people who think that they are going to ABUSE OUR CITIZENS AND OUR LEADERSHIP-some more.... I am more than willing to advise those people who try to be divisive against our ward to step to the plate, get your heads out of your polarized behinds, and do your jobs with the highest ethical accountability and follow the laws tightly...
YOUR CITY HALL REGIME IS ABOUT TO BE OUSTED BY THE CITIZENS
WHO ARE TIRED OF YOUR ABUSIVE PRACTICES!!!
ATTENTION CITY OF CLEVELAND EMPLOYEES:
WE THE PEOPLE EXPECT ACCOUNTABILITY, WE WANT TRANSPARENT OPERATIONS, SCRUTINY, AND ABSOLUTE EQUALITY IN YOUR DAILY ACTIONS. IF YOU CANNOT PROMOTE CONSISTENT EQUALITY OF BUSINESS PRACTICES ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS OF OUR CITY---THEN WATCH OUT! BETTER CLEAN UP YOUR ACTS, STOP ABUSING OUR PEOPLE, AND START PLAYING BY THE RULES...
WE WILL NOT HESITATE TO CALL YOU OUT ON ACTIONS THAT PROMOTE:
STEERING, CORRUPTION, OR DISCRIMINATION
YOUR ACTIONS OF COLLUSION TO VIOLATE OUR RIGHTS ARE OVER! CLEAN UP YOUR ACT OR TAKE A HIKE!
THE LITTLE PEOPLE ARE UNITING IN FORCE TO HOLD YOU ALL ACCOUNTABLE. IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME THAT YOU STOPPED USING THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE LOW INCOME AND DISABLED TO GET THOSE FEDERAL MONIES AND THEN BUILDING TOWN HOUSES FOR THE ELITES.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
WE, THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF CLEVELAND, SHOULD FILE A CLASS ACTION CASE AGAINST THE CITY AT LARGE FOR THE UNCOUNTABLE YEARS AND COUNTS OF MEANDERING THAT HAVE ABUSED THE PEOPLE...
THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE SEIZING CITY HALL AND OUSTING THE FOLKS WHO PROMOTE STEERING PRACTICES IN VOTE, IN LEGISLATION, IN RESOLUTIONS, IN FUNDING, AND IN CONTRACTS... LET ALL OF YOUR DIRTY SECRETS BE UNVEILED... LET YOUR CHEATING WAYS BE REVEALED, LET YOUR PARTISAN PRACTICES BE DISRUPTED...
BE ADVISED THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF CLEVELAND OHIO ARE ENGAGED IN LEVELING THE PLAYING GROUND, GETTING REPRESENTATION, AND HOLDING YOU ALL ACCOUNTABLE...
THE GOOD OLE BOYS NETWORK SHALL CRUMBLE... SO DON'T HESITATE TO RESIGN WHILE YOU STILL CAN. DON'T HESITATE TO RUN AND HIDE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
IT'S TIME FOR JUSTICE!!!
SO, TO THE THOSE WHO HAVE MADE UNETHICAL CHOICES HISTORICALLY TO VIOLATE WARD 14 RESIDENTS... WATCH OUT BECAUSE WE THE CITIZENS ARE STANDING UP AGAINST YOUR HANOUS BEHAVIORS!
HEY, THANKS FOR WORKING TO CONGREGATE ALL THE MENTALLY ILL/DISABLED, THE FELONS, AND THE DISENFRANCHISED CITIZENS INTO THE BIGGEST SECTION OF THE WEST SIDE...
I HOPE THAT WE THE CITIZENS HAVE GOT YOUR ATTENTION!
I STILL VOTE FOR MR. NELSON CINTRON JR.
LET'S EMPOWER WARD 14 RESIDENTS TO CONQUER CITY HALL
LET'S UNITE ABOUT WHAT WE CAN DO TO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE. LET'S SET OUR DIFFERENCES ASIDE AND FIND STRENGTH IN UNITY!!!! WE ARE NOW EMPOWERED IN KNOWING THAT OUR GOALS ARE NOT DIFFERENT...WE JUST WANT TO TAKE BACK OUR COMMUNITY AND EMPOWER OUR PEOPLE! SO, LET'S DO THAT! I AM READILY AVAILABLE TO SHARE ALL RESOURCES I HAVE WITH ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR THE COMMUNITY. COLLECTIVELY, WE CAN EDUCATE, EMPOWER, AND INSPIRE OUR RESIDENTS TO GET INVOLVED.... TO BE PROACTIVE, AND TO FIND GOOD THINGS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO PROMOTE... THEY HAVE DENEGRATED OUR PEOPLE ENOUGH! EMPOWERMENT TO THE PEOPLE!!!
I love you all so much...even with our differences! YOU ALL INSPIRE ME TO INSPIRE THE PEOPLE TO TAKE BACK OUR COMMUNITY... With tears in my eyes, I am so happy to hear your voices! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
BY THE WAY I HAVE A LIFELONG RELATIONSHIP WITH UNCOUNTABLE PEOPLE IN THOSE BOUNDARIES OF STORER/DENISON/CLARK, HAVE TONS OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO LIVE OVER THERE, I DO BUSINESS WITH THOSE PLACES YOU CITED, AND I HAVE LIVED THERE-SO I STRONGLY SUPPORT THE EFFORTS TO RECONSTITUTE THE GERRYMANDERED CITIZEN LEADERSHIP THAT WILL EFFECTIVELY REDUCE THE CITY HALL DEMONS FROM CONTINUING THEIR GAMES ON US! Yes, the gerrymandering, generational changes, demographic changes, and the years of funding practices that promoted the build up of the NORTHERN HALF of our City in all the WARDS --has gotten pretty close to destroying the SOUTHERN HALF of our City's residents... IT'S TIME FOR US TO STAND UP, UNITE, AND NOT TO ALLOW GERRYMANDERING IN THE FUTURE. WE CAN NOW PROMOTE THE BEST FROM WITHIN, OVERCOME THE NEGATIVES, AND CHALLENGE OUR NEIGHBORS TO COME TOGETHER SO THAT WE MAY FIND OUR LEADERSHIP WITHIN, ENCOURAGE OUR FAMILIES TO BE STRONGER, REDUCE THE SELF INJURIOUS BEHAVIORS, AND TAKE CARE OF OUR WEAK! WITH TECHNOLOGY, FORUMS LIKE THIS, AND COMMUNICATIONS AVENUES AVAILABLE TO US TODAY-WE CAN ENSURE THAT PROPER RESIDENT COMMUNICATIONS ARE EFFECTUATED.
NO MORE SENIORS/DISABLED SHOULD BE STRUGGLING TO GET THEIR LAWN MOWED.... WE NEED TO GET CIVIC MINDED AGAIN...TO TAKE CARE OF OUR PEOPLE! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO UNITE TO HELP OUR SENIORS AND OTHERS... SO, TAKE THIS AS A CALL OUT... BECAUSE THERE'S A LIST OF SENIORS WHO'VE CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE WITH MATTERS LIKE LAWNS, SMALL REPAIRS, AND OTHER ISSUES. CHECK ON YOUR ELDERLY NEIGHBORS, OFFER THEM A LITTLE HAND, AND GO THE EXTRA MILE...IT'LL MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.
WE NEED TO USE OUR VOICES TO ADDRESS PROBLEMS THAT ONLY WE KNOW TOO WELL. THESE OUTSIDERS CANNOT FIGURE THEM OUT FAST ENOUGH-THEY JUST KEEP STUMBLING! WE KNOW WHAT DOES NOT WORK AND WE KNOW WHAT DOES WORK! WE ARE THE VOICE THAT NEEDS TO BE HEARD. WE KNOW HOW TO INSPIRE OUR FOLKS TO SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES...BE IT ON THEIR FRONT PORCHES, IN THEIR KITCHENS OVER COFFEE, OR ON THIS INTERNET. WE KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH THEM TO FIND SOLUTIONS. SO, LET'S UNITE TO DO SO! THEN LET'S EXECUTE COLLABORATIONS THAT UNITE US ALL....AGAIN AND AGAIN... SO THAT THROUGH THE UNIFICATION-WE CAN INSPIRE EVERYONE TO BE PROACTIVE! LET'S NOT ALLOW THOSE WHO DON'T SUPPORT OUR GOALS TO CONTINUE HOLDING US DOWN!
IF WE WANT CHANGE-THEN WE MUST CHANGE! LET'S CHALLENGE THE CITY HALL MONSTER TO THE END FOR THE BEST INTERESTS OF OUR PEOPLE!!!
SO, I ASK THAT WE ALL GET TOGETHER, THAT WE BRING OUR CITIZENS NEIGHBORHOOD VOICES TO WORK THROUGH OUR ISSUES, PROMOTE THE BEST IN EACH OF OUR DIVERSE CITIZENS, AND THAT WE ENCOURAGE HELPING EACH OTHER THROUGH THESE TIMES...
I wasn't trying to slam either one about that area-I know with the redistricting it'll be Ward 14...but didn't know who it was before over on West 47th. Regardless of this street-it's mirrored in many neighborhoods. As you stated, lots of gerrymandering, redistricting, and years of confusion from the politics along with some unbelievable polarization have created dissention in our ranks. We need to come together, unite, and strengthen our voices. Our citizens need us as advocates, as fighters for their rights, and as activists to help them believe in the possibilities... and we can make amazing changes!!!
SO, let's do it! I believe that together our voice will be heard, that as we empower each other with our little learned wisdoms through the school of life.... I believe that we deserve representation that is not afraid to fight those ills...and if we support our leadership through our own network of organized residents, then we are empowering our entire Ward collectively!
That is why I so strongly support NELSON CINTRON JR... he recognizes what he's facing down there... but he's not influenced by those political regimes like the other candidates. He will communicate, share, and empower us from within... and he will fight for us... he is not about destroying our spirits, but building us up so that WE CAN DO IT!
the headline
Can you please explain to me how one person, and that one person has the disdain of fellows councilpersons, can lead a change to conquer city hall?
To do that, wouldn't we need progressive candidates running in a majority of the wards and wouldn't they need well funded campaigns to
win? Wouldn't that also require a coaltion of like minded people and candidates and several years of planning?

Cityworks is a neighborhood-based, matching grant program that has been developed to encourage new and creative efforts in partnership with small citizen groups such as block clubs, street clubs and resident organizations for eligible activities.
Cityworks awards grants of up to $3,000 to block clubs and other neighborhood groups for projects that improve the quality of life within Cleveland neighborhoods. These grants require dollar-for-dollar, matching contribution of cash, volunteer labor, or donated services (i.e.: a $3,000 grant would require $3,000 in matching funds, labor, or services).
Cityworks Manual and Application Form
Applications for the Cityworks Program are accepted from neighborhood-based organizations of residents or small businesses. A neighborhood-based organization is one with a majority of its members residing or doing business in a defined geographical area, and whose purpose is to improve the quality of life in that area.
An applicant organization cannot discriminate in admission of members, and must demonstrate active participation of neighborhood residents.
