Some Realneo members may know the Mancuso Family,Beth & Al (parents) and Rachel, Claire, Anna, Robert (kids)from the Westside food co-op group that I belonged to when Norm, Claes and I lived in Ohio City.
They are hosting a Fair Trade Open House this Sat. November 22, 2008 from 11:00a - 3:00p. They will have some food to nibble and a variety of fair trade gifts for purchase. give them a call if you are interested. They are some of the most knowledgeable people I know about sustainable, healthy and organic living. Beth is also an amazing urban farmer! This is a great opportunity to meet a great family and learn a thing or two from them.
I hope they have the delicious Mexican women's co-op organic shade grown coffee that I bought from Al before!
Their address is 2037 W.45th Street (side door) in Ohio City.
Their phone number is: 216-961-8158.
Peace,
Beth, Rachel, Claire, Anna, Robert, & Al Mancuso

Did you go today? (Hope they had some Cafe Femenino coffee left for you...)
I got the invites, but couldn't make it. I'm celebrating buy-nothing day early and often.
Jenita and I have been in the (same) Westside Food Co-op for just over a year know, and really thankful for it. The monthly dried goods are a great complement to CityFresh produce.
Al and Beth are great people... Contributing a lot, and not expecting much at all in return. We're actually thinking about renting an apartment from them (though that might be hush-hush...)

Cleveland's westside, particularly in that Ohio City/Detroit Shoreway area has a great sense of community and can be very green. I miss a lot of things about Ohio City.
