Cases closed, nothing pending
Not in jail... sounds like a pretty clean bill of health for a car repair shop.
Imagine how many customers they have had in 20+ years who may have gotten pissed off about a repair, didn't pay their bill and had conflicts, or how many neighbors could have had problems and sued... not to mention the risks and problems that occur for any small business - this just doesn't look like a bad record for a car repair shop and gas station, and most indications are this is a good neighbor.
Sounds like it would be hard to do better than this business here... would you prefer a new owner fly in from a far off county where you can't access any past records on-line, and the new owner could be a child molestor or worse... and a pig.
Quest, any personal issues with this guy or business? Did they ever rip you off?
Disrupt IT
That's correct Norman,
That’s correct Norman, if people have doubts about that then they should read the related statute 2913.02 these cases are related to his business most likely. As well as the two civil cases, one that involve a MV.
Doing work on a car without permission is considered theft. Lying about work that needs to be done that does not; is also theft. Holding the keys until you pay is also intimidation and theft. If the person says they did not sign the authorization and the authorization exists it could be charged as forgery.

as a member of a family that owns a repair business, you sound like the kind of customer that business owners can do without. Why would a business have your car to begin with if you didn't take it in for repairs? Is it because it looks so good that a small shop would want to have it there to store at their expense? Are you the kind of customer that says fix it no matter what, can't pay the bill now, and want your car regardless of the bill? Holding the keys until you pay is not theft; telephone authorizations are ok, and trying to take your car while skipping out on the bill is illegal.

furthermore you are an idiot and so am I for even reading your posts.
don't smear the messenger
Guy, you say don't harm/smear the messenger but I am still wondering why you even went there in the first place? \
What Guy should have
What Guy should have really done is go and read the records. If he is that worried and that unhappy with Sam, he does not have to and is not required to patronize his establishment. With the years of being at the gas station, if Sam did bad work, you have the better business bureau, you can go to consumer protection or just stop buying his products.
Sam is one of the nicest gentlemen you will ever meet. He is kind and courteous - I have no doubt that he probably would hand it back to you if you approached him with an attitude.
Sam's is the only local gas station in the neighborhood, he provides services to a lot of elderly people on fixed incomes - because they can afford him - that is not to say he never had an unhappy customer - I'm sure he did - but he and his employees go beyond the call of duty. Where can you go in cold weather where the workers will pick up the air compressor and bring it to your vehicle - pump in the air - at no charge? - They have a sign in the window that says air $1.00 - that is only taken if you have it and it is to provide a little something to the poor guy standing out in the freezing weather checking your tires. It's worth a $1 not to have to get out and do it your self. Other gas stations have machines that you have to put quarters in to get air and - some of us need help.
Sam is the information center - do you have any idea how many people passing through stop just to ask where some of these expensive restaurants are? He could tell then he doesn't know - but he's not like that. He could not pump up a kids bicycle tire when ask - Sam has three kids of his own and one of them has some type of disability.
At least he's not throwing out millions of dollars of federal monies designated to this area for helping poor people.
You would not believe how many people are rallying behind Sam. If he were such a bad man for the neighborhood - he would not have this kind of support. This is not just coming from me - everybody down through here is talking about this and that we must find a way to help him. That's neighbors - that kindness and that is Old South Side tradition.
I really don't understand why Guy is on a rail about this?
