This is a thank you to a relative who planted a vew colors of this 

Althaea officinalis flower a few years back .   

These are also know as mallow, and are frost tolarant perennials (unlike tropical hibiscus which can't survive afreeze) and are growing well, and are real head turners for everyone who walks by.   

Each flower lasts just for a day.  They are as big as a plate - maybe 8 or 9 inches in diameter.  And as you can see from the image, they have  very fine colorations, and a silky, diaphanous texture.
