AMERICA hates children

I am going to expand this post, but for now, consider the suburban model of schooling children and the "urban" model of schooling children.
If you live in the suburbs--your school facility is modelled after a prison. You drive your kids to school or they drive themselves. The school is set back far from the street so the noise and spill out of noisy kids can not offend.
In urban areas, families can still walk their kids to school or you will see the kids walking by themselves or in groups of three or four kids. When there are more of these kids in a group, we call it a gang.
Just something to ponder on a Monday morning as the Cleveland Metropolitan School District prepares to destroy more Cleveland neighborhoods.
Good morning...Cleveland.

Children among first to go
With the ongoing the layoffs of teachers nationwide it is obvious that children are somewhere down the list for local voters.
The next BIG SHORT
"Until recently, I thought that there would never again be an opportunity to be involved with an industry as socially destructive and morally bankrupt as the subprime mortgage industry. I was wrong," Eisman said. "The for-profit education industry has proven equal to the task."

Lunch time
In Cleveland schools, where warehousing children has become a fine art; lunches are about 20 minutes long. After standing in line for 10 minutes, most of the kids have only 10 minutes to actually consume their food, if they are lucky. From there, they have to run to their next class. While recess is not really an option for high school, some districts still have study halls. Probably, because such a concept is not feasible, mostly due to behavior issues, students don't have any real breaks throughout the day. So, students take their own breaks--sleeping or acting up in class, or skipping it altogether. When we treat students like animals---the end result is that is how they will behave.
RECESS
Recess was one of the best parts of the day at school. For 20 minutes each morning and 20 minutes each afternoon we were allowed to go out and have a little fun. We'd play games, jump rope and play ball. I do think that kids are more intune with learning if they're given a break and it's not all work.
It al so provides exercise which is necessary for the brain to work well.
