University Circle is proud to offer a variety of events and activities in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

FREE Shuttle Buses
UCI will provide free shuttle buses to the institutions in University Circle who are hosting events on Monday, January 17 (Maltz Museum is not on the shuttle route). One bus will run from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., and the other will run from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The shuttles will stop at the following locations: The Western Reserve Historical Society, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Public Library - Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch, Karamu House, The Children's Museum of Cleveland, and Severance Hall.

Cleveland Museum of Natural History

The museum will have a special program for the kids in the Smead Discovery Center called, “Meet an Entomologist." An entomologist is someone who studies insects. Children will be able to ask questions and examine insect specimens with magnifiers.The planetarium will be open and tickets are available for $1/person. The Extreme Mammals exhibit will also be available with a ticket for $5/person. Parking is a flat rate of $5 for the day. www.cmnh.org

Severance Hall joins the city-wide celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life with a Community Open House offering instrumental, vocal, and spoken-word performances. Spend the day at Severance Hall or stop by to see community music ensembles and performances by the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus. This community open house is sponsored by Medical Mutual of Ohio.

Join us for our annual commemorative program in celebration of the achievements Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with our guest speaker, George Fraser, president of FraserNet. Mr. Fraser is considered to be one of the foremost authorities on networking and building effective relationships, and has been recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine as “Black America’s #1 Networker.” An exhibit showcasing the physical and spiritual beauty of black women by photographer Jerry Taliaferro, “Women of a New Tribe: Soul of the Village,” will also be on display. www.cpl.org
