Bob Barr, representative of the 7th District of Georgia from 1995 to 2003, will speak on the Patriot Act and his belief that civil liberties are being threatened by the federal government.

Barr occupies the 21st Century Liberties Chair for Freedom and Privacy at the American Conservative Union and serves as a board member of the National Rifle Association and the Patrick Henry Center and chairman of Patriots to Restore Checks and Balances. He provides advice to several organizations, including the ACLU, Southeastern Legal Foundation, and The Constitution Project’s Initiative on Liberty and Security. He served as a member of the Long-Term Strategy Project for Preserving Security and Democratic Norms in the War on Terrorism at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government from 2003 to 2005.

Barr was United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia (1986-90), president of Southeastern Legal Foundation (1990-91) and an official with the CIA (1971-78). He currently practices with the law offices of Edwin Marger. His Liberty Strategies, LLC assists individuals, organizations and governments in formulating and implementing strategies to achieve their goals in the public policy arena. He is a contributor for CNN, writes a regular column for the "Atlanta Journal-Constitution," hosts a weekly radio show, and is a contributing editor for The "American Spectator."
