Lawsuit forces Obama Administration to restore duplicates of missing Bush emails

Mother Jones - The Obama administration and two nonprofits have reached a wide-ranging settlement in their legal battle over millions of missing Bush-era White House emails, the three parties announced Monday. The agreement—first reported by Mother Jones on Friday—is a major victory for the plaintiffs, who sued in October 2007 to force the recovery of missing messages, determine how emails were lost, and prevent the problem from happening again.

Under the settlement with Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and the National Security Archive, the Obama administration has promised to restore 94 days worth of emails. Some of the recovered messages could potentially shed light on controversies such as the lead-up to the Iraq war and the leak of Valerie Plame Wilson's covert CIA identity.  Read more.

The PD neglected to explain the "settlement"

Thanks for posting this, Eternity... I read a butchered version of the story in the PD where they conveniently left out all details of the settlement and the implications - wouldn't want to show how fucked up our government was during Bush, would we?!?!

The PD causes society more harm than good... I feel dirty after reading it.

Some have forgotten the meaning of service, so lets remind them

Norm,

As you know, I don't live in Cleveland.  Though if I did--and because I am so allied with my Progressive brothers and sisters there--I have no doubts that I would be one of the PD's biggest critics.

But make no mistake, Cleveland does not have a monopoly on corruption.

In the course of fighting against the attempt of a handful rogue politicians aided and abetted--in Atlanta--by the Atlanta Journal-Consitution newspaper, I found myself having to call out the endless variety of duplicities and distoriions propogated by the lot.  At one point, I even found myself being called "a demon from hell" by a Fulton County Commission, in the middle of a public hearing.

The building that I"ve been fighting for--The Atlanta-Fulton Central Public Library--exists to serve the public interest.  Yyet some of our elected officials want to demolish it and sell the land to the highest corporate bidder, as if it's their own personal property.

The hell they preach...OVER MY DEAD BODY!!!

Nowithstanding, of course not all the politicians in office, and not all writers at corporate papers are corrupt.  But sadly, too many are.

So these people who have forgotten the meaning of service, even as it it is their JOB to serve, must be reminded--must be confronted...and if necessary--decommissioned.
