TWDC PROPOSED BY-LAW CHANGES /DISCRIMINATORY COMMITTEE STRUCTURE/ DISINFRANCHISEMENT OF MINORITIES/CONFLICTS OF INTERESTSubmitted by jerleen1 on Wed, 09/23/2009 - 23:59.
After spending a number of hours today reviewing the latest draft of TWDC proposed by-law changes, it is clear and evident that the new changes if passed will add to the already discriminatory tactics by TWDC committee structures, conflicts of interest by way of a city employees holding board seats as well as being appointed by the board to chair and co-chair permanent committees. City employee (magistrate Lynn Murray) sits on board, appointed by the board to chair finance committee, city council employee Katherine Bulava - board member, first vice president and co-chair of long range planning committee. Resident participation discouraged and residents discriminated against by being kept from being sitting members of certain committees as well as denied voting privileges. Long-time residents and low-income individuals will be kept from serving this community by being denied the right as TWDC members to become active members of sitting committees. Some local business owners being disinfranchised by being excluded from holding membership and voting privileges on certain committees. New changes say that members of the finance committee, planning and housing and economic development committee shall be appointed by the board of directors. Board will have additional powers to delegate functions and duties of committees. All the powers of this community organization will become centralized around and within the Board of Trustees which delegate who can and cannot participate in the organizations fundamental activities. IN OTHER WORDS, A DICTATORSHIP - NO DEMOCRACY AND NO SOCIAL EQUALITY FOR THE POOR, LONG-TIME AND MINORITY RESIDENTS. Will the hispanic community in Ward 14 be disinfranchised by new changes? Rumor circulating that TWDC is offering consellation prizes to encourage votes in favor of passing discrininatory by-laws. Old Souh Side Community Coalition to possibly call special meeting and wishes to invite Councilman Brian Cummings and Rick Nagin to participate in discussion of proposed new by-law changes. TWDC paid staff member currently in conflict of interest by influencing current committe structures. No voting process in decision making on important issues - letters of support or opposition that effect zoning changes, variances, certificates of occupancy - discrimination and favortism in the business district and big time developers. AT SUCH TIME ALL OSS FOUNDERS VOTE IN FAVOR, FLYERS WILL BE PASSED OUT ANNOUNCING DATE AND TIME OF SPECIAL MEETING
