Legal Aid Society of Cleveland....needs aid to sustain operations....2012Submitted by ANGELnWard14 on Thu, 03/15/2012 - 16:26.
It's amazing how the demographics of our community show more NEED than can be provided with Legal Assistance----yet how one of the largest industries in NEO-the LEGAL INDUSTRY could allow the LEGAL AID SOCIETY OF CLEVELAND to be neglected... Can anyone explain why there is money listed on county filings that says LEGAL AID? Is that money dedicated to the LAS? So, the call to action requires us to call our congressional reps to support the Legal Aid industry....specifically ours....Shall we begin calling Marcy Kaptur or do we call Dennis Kucinich? Another gross social injustice in Cuyahoga County reverts to the fact that the LEGAL INDUSTRY is unaffordable for the demographically disadvantaged and it also uses those same distressed families to earn a living.... surreal. HOW MUCH MONEY WAS MADE BY CUYAHOGA COUNTY CIVIL COURT IN 2011? HOW MUCH MONEY WAS MADE BY THE CITY OF CLEVELAND MUNICIPAL CIVIL COURT IN 2011? JUST CURIOUS.

LEGAL AID----ANOTHER RESOURCE NEGLECTED TO HURT THE LOW INCOME
Cuyahoga County has an amazing civil court system that uses the public at large as a batch of "Quotas" to sustain it's big business. So long as the poor, the uneducated, and the unaware are kept in the "dark"...and without legal representation of their true rights---the higher echelons in the legal system can make a financial killing from running the small people in dead end "circles" without any resolves....
The spider web madness in our community keeps a lot of useless public servants behind desks shuffling paperwork while dissuading citizens from seeking help. Meanwhile, the little people go around chasing their tails and serving as quotas to the "SYSTEM"....such a big business.."QUOTAS!"
At the end of the day; you practically need a lawyer to get help for the things like child support, child custody, and much more...like traffic court, evictions, and the list goes on. Most low income folks cannot afford a lawyer and are now being turned away from the one resource (LAS-C) that is overwhelmed with the needs of our local populace at large. Surreal.
The changes that should be made to mitigate these needs will never occur because then a lot of "PUBLIC SERVANT PAPER PUSHERS WOULD BE OUT OF WORK!"
How many fathers cannot get help with custody or child support issues because they are redirected to "get an attorney" when they cannot even pay to live? It's an endless rat race. But of course-the big government lives well from the ignorance of the poor.
Ultimately----our county should begin considering ways to streamline the bureacracy that defeats the little people in order to inspire building up families instead of using them as quotas! That "ATTITUDE" which has been the status quo for too long truly needs to be redressed to revitalize the spirit of the people in our community. Perhaps the next generation of leadership will have the experience to see all the wasteful government spending which violates the people instead of protecting them!
Put LEGAL AID REPS at all those locations that steer away quotas and defeat them from getting the true/direct assistance they need.
Get the local BAR associations to hold all the attorney's accountable for their annual responsibility of doing "Pro Bono Work"... log those hours and require the info to be publicized. Sadly---that would result in a lot of paid attorneys losing income because they'd have to provide free services----but then again the issues would be streamlined for the people in true need and life would be a lot easier in our community.
Have a great day!
