DID YOU VOTE IN-PERSON TODAY?

NO!

I wish I had!

I have been voting in person for the past nearly 50-years.

This year (2020) because of the Covid-19 pandemic – I voted early by mail both in the primary and also in the general election.

I wanted to vote in-person today but got scared by the prospect of waiting in a long line stretching possibly into the neighboring county.

It was a beautiful autumn day – 56 deg. F and the sun was out in full glory. In the afternoon as I set out for exercise in Jefferson Park (our house faces the park on Cooley Avenue) – one-hour of walking and another hour of solo tennis – I decided to check how long the lines were outside our polling place located in ward 16 -- West 130th Street, South of Lorain Avenue.

To my pleasant surprise – there were no long lines – just a few people waiting outside – all with their masks. I learned that there was a constant stream of voters – but not one to cause over-crowding outside.

In the world’s greatest democracy – not every eligible voter votes. This year nearly 35% of the voters will not be voting.

Enjoy the excitement of the post-voting day election season!
