Save money and go green, buy your next computer from the used market.

Keep in mind that, like a used car, every used computer is unique.

Key questions to ask:
1. Did the user smoke? (Smoking can lead to fan cloging and future over heating). 2. Make sure to get the specs of the system (Processor, Memory, Hard Drive, Video Card, Screen Native Resolution, Ports like USB, Firewire, VGA, DVI, etc).
3. Get the model number (and if a Dell the Asset tag, if a Mac the serial number), that you can use to get the original specs of the unit and verify it's age.

Two common misconceptions.

1. You don't need the original box for anything other than your collection of boxes. 2. Since most people do not include the installation software what is installed on it is not a concern, unless your a pirate of course :)

Just because something is listed as green does not make it so!
