My Name is NELSON CINTRON JR.
I am asking for your vote in the September 08, Primary to represent you in Cleveland City Hall as your new Ward 14 Councilman.
I, Nelson Cintron Jr have dedicated my life to working together with the City Council, the Residents, the Legislators, and the community at large to build a better Cleveland. It is my goal to unite the New Ward 14, promote civic leadership through block clubs, and to work tirelessly to represent the desires of the residents. I believe in incorporating the voices of you, the residents, when making decisions.
I have always promoted the cultural diversity of Ward 14 with pride. Throughout my terms of service to Ward 14, from 1997-2005, I worked as a legislator to protect the best interests of our residents and businesses. As a lifelong resident of our community, I have dedicated my life to overcoming diversity and adversity by empowering our residents to unite for the good of all.
As a leader, I have always worked to encourage our residents to be active in promoting positive change within their neighborhoods by supporting block clubs and neighborhood organizations. I have worked with the federal government to bring in the local Veteran’s Administration Outpatient Clinic at McCafferty Clinic on Lorain Avenue. I have worked with enumerable social service organizations to promote their efforts to provide programs like HEAP, Senior Housing Assistance Progams, the Senior Lawn Cutting Program, the Free Paint Program, and the 50/50 Home Repair Program with the ULA. I have supported laborers by fighting for their rights to unionize. As an elected leader in Ward 14, I invited businesses and developers into our community to create economic development and jobs. I collaborated with uncountable housing entities to build new housing units in Ward 14. I worked with the Planning Commission to develop and implement long term and short term goals of development within our ward.
As a leader, I was honored to work with our local schools to build brighter futures for our youth. I worked to collaborate improvements such as installing new playgrounds at several of our local schools (Walton/Orchard/Scranton) and in some cases, we even worked to build entirely new schools (Thomas Jefferson, Buhrer Schools). I supported repairs at other schools throughout our ward in collaboration with Barbara Byrd Bennett. I promoted the Boys & Girls Club, the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, and several school programs to included promoting mock elections and hosting field trips to City Hall with our students. I also promoted programs that provided needy children with gifts for the holidays.
My experience as a Councilman includes being the Majority Leader at Cleveland City Council. I was the President and Vice President of the Public Service Committee. I was a member of the Finance Committee, Economic Development and Community Development Committee, the Public Utilities Committee, and the Affirmative Action Committee. I have remained the Democratic Ward Leader since I left office in December 2005. During my time in office, the list of infrastructure repairs that I supported resulted in streets being paved, bridge replacements, and new sewer lines being installed. Throughout my history, I have been well known for fighting for the citizens rights to be protected.
You can look forward to knowing several things when you vote for me. First, you can be assured that I will present legislation to reduce the water rates, that I will support residents rights, and that I will work to unite our residents with a promising sense of community.
Respectfully,
NELSON CINTRON JR.
